can i play 3ds roms with cfw?

The only way to play 3ds roms is through a flashcard. Sky3DS is the most reliable in my opinion.

The only way to play 3DS ROMs is through a flashcard. Sky3DS is the most reliable in my opinion.

It is, however, possible to convert a 3DS ROM into a Citra (Citra being the code name for the 3DS) Installable Archive, which will play off your SD Card once installed, provided you patch out the signature checks with CFW, install a legit CIA dumped from a system with a pack-in game - which your converted ROMdump will not be - or somehow miraculously figure out how to properly sign your CIA with Nintendo's private signatures. Which you won't do, unless your name is Merasmus or something. How do you do that? Paliect's guide links to things that explain that far better than I can - but I will tell you that if you don't have any 64 bit computers, you might need to compile source code at one point.

So, either fork out money for a Sky3DS and make sure not to get banned from online play for not having a unique private header, or get a hardmod, install a9lh, and enjoy homebrew and warez.

TLR I think I speak for most people here, I would rather spend 80-100 dollars for a Sky3DS than spend 150-200 dollars for a brand new 3ds if mine bricks. I know the guide is very safe, but I sometimes don't like to take risks like that. I will probably get A9LH though since I will be completely safe since I have a hardmod.

Also, if you're scared of "bricking", it's almost impossible now. Follow the guide step by step, don't mess up, and live happy.

You only screw up if you fail to follow an instruction because a) you didn't understand it because i) you missed a subtlety to the language or ii) you're a bit dim or b) you deliberately do so because i) you think you know better than the guide or ii) you have a reckless, risk-taking personality.
