exactly the same things are happening for me, with the added bonus of the settings.cfg file not existing.

Do you have some theme with non-ASCII characters in the name? They could cause issues since lpp-3ds doesn't support such characters.

Can somebody explain the controls for the CIA version?
None of the buttons work except A and B.
Can't even load the Theme Downloader. And no themes on SD Card, because I can't access a computer yet. Been doing stuff on the 3DS all day...
Also, I'm using REDNand if that's related...

At the moment, if you don't have at least one theme, you cannot access to Theme Downloader but you can use the Theme Sender to send a theme from a PC (or just manually put one with an FTP application).

/3ds . It's something ctrulib related ( https://github.com/smealum/ctrulib/blob/master/libctru/source/ndsp/ndsp.c#L405 )

Please send me your settings.cfg file. As for BLEND3R, it shouldn't happen since smdh file is from CHMM2. (checked right now with an hex editor).

Dont know why it shows up as BLEND3R, so I added my CHMM2.smdh.

Using ver 2.8 cia I got the following "error: {string ''?''}:696: error opening file." on my a9lh luma ver 11. Previously it worked fine on gateway. I have put all the files correctly in themes folder. Any idea why?

Are you on v.2.8?
If so, if you receive that error you have some connection issues on your 3DS (connection with 3dsthem.es API basically failed when this error appears).

For the 3dsx version you need to place the xml file too together with 3dsx file.
