How about something ON TOPIC now? Will the file dumped with this tool eventually allow sound to be enabled on our boot animations (bootanim9)? If not, what exactly will it be used for that can't be done now?
BootAnim9 doesn't have much to do with this (if at all...). I have to RE the CSND or the NDSP module and see exactly *what* they read/write and *where* it does it.
Problem is, as the name subtly implies, that BA9 runs in the ARM9 processor without any underlying software stack or OS (only thing I use is FatFS for SD access). So I don't know how to properly access sound or what to do in order to enable it, or have the time to RE it (I've got a lot of projects in the background, not all of them are IRL projects, not all of them are 3DS-related, etc)

Sorry for the OT Cruel, but I just felt I had to clarify this, people have been asking for it a long time now.

Sure, smaller = better, but is it really a significant change?
It might not be in the sense that they're both not 1MB but it shows that @TheCruel's has more efficient code that can preform the exact same task.
It might be good, but does it have any *real world* advantage?
One could argue that with less code to run through it takes slightly less time to dump the file.
It's a really small file anyway, right?
Yes and no.

@Rinnegatamante's DSP FirmDump (dsp_firm_dumper.3dsx) is 214KB while this one (DspDump.3dsx) is only 180KB, a 34KB difference between two programs that do the exact same thing.
The difference here is the hat Rin's is most likely based on a modified lpp-3ds, like most of his tools, while Cruel's is based on... nothing, except libctru of course.
For a tool of this magnitude, using an interpreter is borderline retarded.

Besides, executable size doesn't always mean more efficient or faster. Have you ever heard of "-Os"? :P

Thank you for the open source release. I'd like to stay agnostic of the drama, but regardless I think we can agree that open source is good. Since Rinne lost the source code, this is a good alternative for those who care about open source software.

I'd like to issue an apology. Rinnegatamanta's site isn't lame, the latest version is pretty good. But adf.ly is shit and the way he releases is shit. And those are just the facts of the case we have to deal with.

It could be as bad as gnmmarechal's site, which redirects you to adfly just for the hell of it when you visit his page (Yay redirect on load). And redirects you to adfly to visit his youtube, or to download any of his apps. There's greedy, then there's gnmmarechal level of greedy.

Kidding, mostly. Seriously though, redirect to adfly just for the pleasure of loading your site? Not worth it.

I've seen sites like that. I seriously wonder how those guys verify that their pages are actually working without having to go through their own adfly links.

It wasn't supposed to do that redirect on load, actually. I'll have to change it.
The other pages on the site probably do it as well since they used the same template file that had my Adfly code. I wonder if that even links to my current account.

Hello, (sorry for the noob question), but i noticed this was included in Plailect's latest guide, and i already installed a9lh previously, and so i was wondering do i need this still?

Not sure if this is relevant, but on homebrew i only used HANS and occasionally svdt.

Thanks!

Then you don't need it.

You should switch from SVDT to JKSM, your choice on what you use, though.
