I've seen FAR too many questions and noob posts asking the same things over and over that are answered in other posts. Don't believe me? Go a few pages back in the forum. Count how many you find. You won't like it.

So you know what I have to say?

USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. IT'S THERE FOR A REASON.

Want to know how to use something? Search how to use it.
Asking a request? Search for a place where to post it.
Just have a simple question? Search the question and find the answer.

Now, there are some things that can't be answered simply by searching. That's ok to post. But generic questions you'll see a lot like "how do i mod my wii u" are NOT good things to post. You've been warned!

This has been discussed already in the 3DS Homebrew forums, and that's why a "noob paradise" was formed, so less questions would be asked. But because we don't have it, this is where most question posts are asked.

It's aggravating to other users, devs, and mods to have to bear through repetitive questions. Threads have been locked from flaming, users have gotten warnings and suspensions over them, and other tempers' hatred for these kinds of posts only grow stronger. I just wanted to make myself clear on it, as it's something that can be solved so simply, yet no one seems to do it. So please, please think twice about posting questions and consider whether or not it's post worthy. Us fellow tempers are here to answer most of your questions, but not the poopy questions, obviously :P. Posting here is a privilege, not a right.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hope you learned a little bit today! :D

Out of curiosity, what is this post going to achieve other than getting buried in a few days (or hours)? I'm not saying idiot questions and the idiots who ask them should not be slammed to the stickies accordingly and then told to get lost afterwards, but what I am saying is that this isn't going to solve anything. This post should be closed and definitely NOT stickied. If users can't read the stickies in the first place, what is this going to do? Clutter up the space with rage posting? Advise users kindly where to go, and then if they keep posting questions, close / have a moderator close the thread. There, problem solved.

They ignore their questions on sticky threads because is old and so full of damn posts... also some of the explainations aren't fully understandable to some of them... so they ask the pros and cons.

The 5% has full Q&A with/or pros and cons very detailed.

Hell, even searching Google has flaws.
And the solutions they already say to us, are pretty generalistic and NOT personal like if...

Ex. If a error 6 occur, erase file and make a new one. (Pretty easy huh?)
But then this happens to you:

It doesn't want to make the file for fixing the error 6. It gives me another error with the number 8 about a malfunction on the program without reason.

Wow, I was just thinking of starting a thread to ask about the status of the wii u softmod. I am so glad you posted this one off thread. Otherwise, I might have posted that thread. Just think of all the e-paper you saved the world. Who would have ever thought to read the stickies. well OP, since you spread all these words of wisdom and corrected all this wrong doing. Answer this for me, do you think its a good idea to post my questions about wiiu in all the other sections as well??? (More people there are to answer my questions the better right?) Or is that just gacube?

Pretty useful post, but you could be more kind.

Not a useful post. Except for hopefully to you, newcomer! :D But yes, this is a rage post, it should be more kind.. If you have questions, feel free to ask publicly or PM me.

That's the exact reason I wrote the Definitive vWii Guide. I had to scour several forums / threads when I first hacked my vWii, it was very inefficient and did not leave me with much confidence, and I am fairly technologically savvy. I can only imagine how some of the less informed people must have felt lol.

This is becoming an issue on other sections as well, more notably the "3ds - homebrew development and emulators" section. People ask the same question that was just answered 5 times yesterday because they don't know they can use the search option to see if it already has been asked.

Well yeah. But devs also need to help people to. Flame me all you want but when somebody IN THE THREAD asks something like "are the controls configurable?" and the dev says "it was answerd 3 pages back :)" when there are like 90 pages is shitty. That makes the person either 1.Make a whole other bullshit thread about the question or 2. just forget about it until another person answers the question directly. This doesn't need to be sticky ed because the person that doesn't read the stickies won't read this one. It's useless.

But you can also use the search bar to search a single thread for something.

I have said it before and I will say it again wtf does this site not do what every other site does and make mods authorize newbies first 100 posts before they show on the site. This stops multiple repeat threads and shit posting and educates the newbies into what is and isn't acceptable to post.

Because then you have people like me whose second post on this site was the now stickied vWii guide.

Someone close this thread please.

Your not the first to try and get something like this stickied. There are many threads just like this one. I made one months ago that wasn't so antagonistic. It had a real step by step on how to use the forums. It pissed people off too. Don't bother to try and correct the problem with yet another thread and don't bother trying to help noobies understand when they create new threads that they are part of the problem. Just use your ignore button and don't bump the threads by replying (and here I am doing just that).

Here is the thread that I made. If that didn't get stickied I highly doubt this thread will:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/readme-first-before-posting-anything.421788/

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Because then you have people like me whose second post on this site was the now stickied vWii guide.

Someone close this thread please.
That has a lot more to do with the fact that what you posted was relevant, valid information for everyone. You weren't asking for help on a subject that had been clearly written about in the stickys.

gbatemps search is shit
Pro tip: You can add "site: gbatemp.net" as a Google search option.

In any case, after running my own site for years, I've learned that the majority of people will never read stickies and never search for anything on their own before posting. My solution, I'd just delete the threads that were created like that, and if the person continued to be a lazy ass, I just banned them. That was me though ...
