I'd like you to point out one time where an accidental game freeze on someone else's console, that you have no access to, no idea what caused the issue, no idea how it happened, and no idea if it's exploitable or not created an entrypoint.

If someone made a thread every time someone's game froze, the forum would be "GuysIThinkIMightMaybeHaveAnExploitTemp."

That already happens pretty frequently, unfortunately...

Hmmhm. You will see... I need someone with access to fates on an unmodded system on 11.0. My system is currently in a state of where I can't do much atm.

Well...I won't be holding my breath.

Yes... But I am educated thank you very much. if this gets nowhere, I will make it clear. If it does, I will make it clear. Right now is the shittiest time in my life to investigate on my system due to me waiting out a transfer cooldown so I can get a system transfered back.

A modified system is perfectly capable of trying to find an exploit in fates. In fact, a modified system makes it even easier! You can inject and export saves far far easier than on an unmodified unit.

Nah, saying something like this shows exactly how much you know about what it is you speak of.

You are a hacker, you must know what you're talking about. Anyhow, I'm done with this thread, hope you learned something. :gba:

So... let me get this straight.

Your friend's 3DS froze and hung on a black screen because his save file is broken.
He told you about it.
You came onto GBATemp and told us about it.
You said it could be a buffer overflow.
You said it could be used to run ROP and homebrew.
You have no save file for reference.
You have no access to the 3DS it happened on.
You have nothing to show for it other than "I am a hacker myself, after all."

Mhmm. Alright. Cool.
Good luck with your *hax entrypoint.
calm down. its not like he killed somebody. hes only trying to help. there are better ways to tell him that hes probably wrong. as for you u seijinshu simply installing a9lh doesnt mean u can find an exploit. an exploit requires the ability to reverse engineer the game and at the least know how to code. if u truly have the skill show us previous stuff uve worked on.

Actually... It could make it worse, knowing all the patches CFWs do to NFIRM, such as re-enabling older exploits. This infact is a horrible idea.

Well, I do know that. Following a guide means jack shit. Just because I'm still new to GBATemp and I'm in a state of excitement does not make me a noob. I've had years of experience. Now no more talk and lets get someone to help out.

I've wrote up a Minecraft mod back in 7th grade (not being a guide sheep. I hate guides since I can't give it my own touch, plus it would be a better learning experience without one. I know Java is useless in this situation, but I still am working on refreshing my programming)

I can tell you as a fact it's not hard to crash anyone's Fates on any system, modded or not. Anyone who cares about saying "Fuck Treehouse and their translations" knows how. Whether it's the same as your friend's, who knows since neither of you know anyway.

Most CFW that can run those patches need them to be manually installed. So, if you yourself didn't manually install them they most likely will not be an issue.

Plus, in order for this exploit to be considered "legit", we need to know how his game ended like that in the first place. What bug caused his game to lock up and crash? Once we know that, we can figure out if the issue is caused by a buffer overflow. The easiest way to figure out if it's a valid exploit is to recreate it and trace it down to a technical reason.

Hell, for all we know it could just be a corrupt save.

Uhhg. What do you people not get about that I know this crap. I've went through this crap, and I expected all of this mess!

why is everybody getting so worked up. if he manages to find an exploit everybody will be happy if not u will have lost nothing. so y care so much? ur not ganna lose anything.

Originally that was what I thought, but now thinking about it. Corrupt saves can lead to a head start. First we need to build a corrupt save that crashes on entering the inventory screen in every file.

Exactly

He was in chapter 20 in revelations, and when he went into his inventory in his castle, it bsod. And it does this on EVERY file

Maybe grab his save using a powersaves, throw it into a hex editor, and compare the changed lines? At least then you would be able to see a general idea on what causes the problem.

That would require me to be able to get his saves. Idk where he lives, nor does he know how to mod his system.
This lead does seem fishy, even for me. But it could be legit, it could be fake.

1. This isn't the first time someone's brought up a game that crashed and claimed "oh an exploit"
2. See above - it doesn't actually work that way
3. People are getting aggravated because these types of posts pop up all the time, and literally ALWAYS lead to dead ends
4. He hasn't provided anywhere near enough information for this to be replicated (EDIT: I partially eat my words on this one, as it looks like some more detail was provided now)

So yes, it's understandable that people are annoyed.

Well, unlike the average joe, I've seen these threads. If I truly didn't believe there was any form of gain by doing some research, this thread wouldn't be a thing.

Well, what firm is he on? Userland still has homebrew that can backup saves. (Although I don't remember what it's called :p)
