was recently seting up a9lh on my cousins new 3ds thast he just got.
It was a hyrule edition new 3ds xl on 9.9.0-26 u . I set up homebrew launcher, was following part 2 of the guide. During the downgrade to 9.2 with plaisysupdater it said all the files were good and was in the middle of installing the titles. It was all going fine, then the screen turned black and said " An error has occrued. Hold dow n the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. For help, visit support.nintendo.com"

Should I turn it off or should I just wait and hope that it finishes in the background.
Is this a softbrick or a perm brick Please help

This is my 4th DS to set up a9lh and this is the first time ive ever had this problem.

Likely a softbrick and you'll have to update to 11 through recovery. Sorry.

Wait a few minutes just in case and then reboot.

^Also that.

Alright, I powered it off and it booted into home menu :DD
Gunna try to rerun plaisysupdater.
Thanks for the tips

Alright. I got to redowngrade, but this time it only checked and installed the NFirm....
It restarted perfectly, and in settings it shows 9.2.0-20u
Is there any way to check that it is a 100% downgrade? I dont wanna fuck anything up.

When you ran the downgrade again and it succeeded and rebooted fine, you're on 9.2 so you can continue the steps.

Check my sig.
If only the nfc module and fangate updater are "extra", that's okay. (there's another one too ... I can't remember the name that's no big deal to have)

There is a program to check your downgrade (you can find once such program HERE), but there's no need to be alarmed with it only installing a few titles like that, since you already tried the downgrade once. Easiest way to check if the downgrade worked? Just run decrypt9 or emunand9 (part of the guide anyway). They won't be able to run unless you are actually on 9.2.

Thank you. Emunand9 is running and backing up successfully.

Took me over 5 hours, but it's done. Thanks guys. The hyrule n3dsxl has duel ips and now has full a9lh. I'm jealous of my cousin but we.

Yeah, that problem occured to me on a 2DS while downgrading as well. I updated before trying to downgrade again (11.0 wasn't out at the time), glad to read that it is indeed possible (atleast in some cases) to fix this by only running the downgrader again.

This is my 4th DS to set up a9lh and this is the first time ive ever had this problem.

Once it jumps to the error screen, it won't run in the background.

At this point, it can soft brick, hard brick, or partial downgrade (frankenware)

Force shut down, take out SD card, see if it boots.
And if it boots, what firmware version.

Even if it boots and display 9.1/9.2,
It may in reality contain newer files and wont have permissions for CFW,
So downgrade again
(after putting back SD, rebooting etc)

I've got partial downgrade twice.
Both Japanese unit, one N3DS LL, one 2DS

Issue solved by downgrading again.

It's actually mostly known as frankenfirmware.

I almost always get stuck on the NFirm part, it seems to have something to do being on bellow 10.3 because I had 2 New XLs, one was on 10.3 and the other one was at 10.7 and they both downgraded without any errors, after that I got a 9.8 and had the same exact error you had and needed to eject the SD card to boot the console and finish the downgrade.

On a side note, I bought a Hyrule Edition just two days ago and I was wondering if yours came with an IPS display by any chance?

I've downgraded a few pre-10.3 consoles without any issues.
