I'm trying to get my list ready for what I need to install a9lh onto my old 2DS.
Is it wise for me to try and attempt to downgrade my O2DS to 2.1? Or let alone even installing a9lh on it?
If so, what precautions should I take? I feel as if this is risky, especially with getting my OTP....

Follow the guide and you'll be fine. You have to downgrade to 2.1 no matter what if you want a9lh.

It's relatively safe to downgrade to 2.1, the screen just looks stretched. Just remember to leave you wifi switched on because you will need it for getting the OTP and it can not be changed from 2.1 (No software menu).

So, I just read online that I need a way to upgrade back to 9.2. Does this require a game with 9.2 update payload on it?

Becayse while you're on 2.1 you wont be able to change it on or off again.

Nope you restore a nand backup saved from 9.2

This doesn't really matter. If you forget, you can just pull out the battery.

Step 8, Section I of Part 4.
"Make sure your WiFi is on (it has not been disabled from the SysNAND home menu settings), you can only toggle it by pulling the battery which resets it to be on"
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-4-(2.1.0-Downgrade)

It's still better to leave it on, rather than using that workaround, but that workaround is there if you somehow end up forgetting.

What you shouldn't do, is do a system format on a 2DS on anything less than 6.0.0, as you'll be stuck in the initial setup screen and be unable to get out.

You should also note that the same thing would happen if your 3D selector is broken (Whether 3D enabled or 3D disabled), or if the selector broke while having 3D enabled but not at it's fullest in the case of a regular o3ds (maybe n3ds too?).

I've got a 2DS so I don't have to worry lol
