Hey,

I was trying to replace audio streams in The Wind Waker HD. For the streams present in content/Common/AudioRes/stream I was able to successfully replace them with different *.bfstm files and they played just fine in-game.
But I couldn't find a stream for The Great Sea theme, the one I wanted to replace in the first place.
Does anyone know how/where I can replace that theme?

Thanks :)

did you try looking for STRM_GRAND_OCEAN, grand_ocean, ect.?
did you try finding a filelist of the game?

you might end up having to do this the hard way though.
1. Convert the bfstm to brstm using LoopingAudioConverter
2. Open up the newly converted brstm in BrawlBox. Press play to see what it is.
3. Rinse and repeat until you find the file that holds the Grand Ocean Theme.

assuming you already know how to create bfstms, you'd be all set.

i can't seem to find the stream for The Great Sea. Could it be that Wind Waker uses both streamed and sequenced (midi?) audio and that the theme is actually a sequenced one?

How/where would I replace those?

its possible, just highly unlikely. iirc midi is the raw file for when you record music (i.e. plugging in your piano into a box so your computer can read what you play). The Great Sea music could also be used somewhere else. almost like how Luigi Circuit and Mario Circuit from Mario Kart Wii use the same music, The Great Sea could also share its stream.

i cant be of much help actually finding the audio/looking through the game since neither do i own it or i have a dump, sorry :/

It's likely that the great or sea part is in Japanese English. Here is what to do, dump the stream folder of WWHD. Open it in UWizard, and open the stream folder, and find what could most likely be it, and play it. Or you could look it up somehow.

I listened through all of the streams I could find in the game files (Basically all in content/Common/AudioRes/Stream and the sound effects in content/Common/AudioRes/c_king.bfsar).
None of them contain the theme I'm looking to replace. Also I noticed that a lot of other songs and themes are not among the aforementioned streams.
So I guess that TWW indeed uses both streamed and sequenced audio and that The Great Sea theme happens to be sequenced. And apperently nobody managed to replace these (or at least I couldn't find a guide for that online).

A modder confirmed for me that Wind Waker actually uses both streamed and sequenced audio. The theme is actually among the sequenced ones, and you would have to hook into the sound API to replace it, but there are no tools for that (yet).

I just wanted to mention that another way to try to find file names and locations could be to run Cafiine with the server and then look for it when that song starts playing (or entering a location with the texture you're looking to replace, etc)

Hey i was wondering if you can replace Wind Waker HD music with the original?
Glad you asked! To some extent. Only the 100% remade tracks, those in the stream folder of TWWHD. Most of the sequenced files only have one or two instruments switched out, however the samples are not in the same order as the GCN version, so you can't swap the wave banks. Unless you know how to unpack the bank file and then repackage it.

But I recently used Loadiine and swapped everything new in the stream folder with the old music. It's a project I started on last year but then I upgraded my Wii U right before exploit was released for 5.3.2. Heh. But enough talking, here's a video I recorded.
