Homebrew I feel like the universe doesn't want me to downgrade my N3DS.

I do stupid stuff like that all the time. I'm one of those people that will walk to go and do something, but will forget what I was going there for halfway there. Anyways, I'm glad you fixed your problem!

Do not turn your 3ds off, or it will brick (I'm assuming your in the middle of the downgrade process)

Okay. So do I just put it on the charger and wait for it to finish? It still says HAX INIT.

  1. Press Y to downgrade to 9.2.0
  2. Wait; do not touch anything even if it appears to freeze
  3. If, after around 30 seconds, it is still frozen, it is safe to power off and try again
I think I'll give it about 10 more minutes and then turn it off. Is it safe to hook it up to the charger?

based on earlier conversation it does sound like you jumped ahead so its hard for me to know what all is on your sd card at this point. I only added / removed files and folders when it told me to. I can only assume you have all the files you need to downgrade. You shouldnt stop the downgrade mid downgrade, but in your case it sounds like it hadnt even started yet.

I wouldnt bother giving it 10 minutes, give it a minute then reboot, reload back into homebrew launcher and try again.

Okay, so basically I followed the guide all the way up to part 2. I have all the files on my SD card and I made sure they were correct. I checked over the guide like a thousand times before I did anything lol.

It can be checked over a million times, but anything bad can still happen. Since it's saying INIT HAX, I'm going to assume nothing's happened, and it hasn't started downgrading. If so, it's safe to power cycle. But don't do it just because I said so. Due to the potential dangers of a downgrade, it should be a general consensus before doing it.

How many tries did it take until it worked for you? (Assuming you're using the same downgrader that I am).

Well, I followed Plailect's guide, reading it almost 100 times before actually attempting to downgrade. Took me almost all night just downgrade on of my systems, and that was only due to carefully following each step, AND triple checking every file. Heck, the longest part was the 2.1 downgrade RedNAND on my N3DS XL, just because I wasn't sure my WiFI was good. On my o3DS, the 2.1 RedNAND downgrade kept giving me error, but that was for another night. So just be careful, triple check everything carefully, and pray to whatever religious deity you worship. Holding your breath might help too, but I don't recommend it.

Okay, that's what I'm doing now. I checked the updates folder and it has 104 files in it. Is that correct, because I read somewhere that the folder is supposed to contain 106 files.

all I can suggest is making sure you have the correct files (correct device region etc) on the SD card, and make sure SD card is seated properly this time (which I assume it is since you are in homebrew launcher).

104 files seems correct for 9.2U anyways.

What version plaisysupdater do you have?

Well, I haven't read much of the previous post but you should format your n3ds too. You don't want to soft brick it and update it to 11.0 afterwards. It's a current issue with all of the sysupdater versions(including PlaiSysUpdater) and the only way to prevent it is a system format.

I'm convinced it does. Why else would downgrading be such hell? Actually, I think hell is a lot better than downgrading a 3DS.

I definitely did a format way before I made this post. :)
