If I buy a wii U will it ship with an exploitable firmware? I don't think they'd update all of the console in the store lol..

Eh, I'm sure nintendo will be releasing a new firmware by next week, so I can't really update to just 5.5.0 right?

Get one now then.

There won't be one on 5.6+ for months unless preowned.

ya any console you buy in next few months odds are well be 5.5.1

when / if there is a 5.6 update by the time they build it into consoles ship them to stores it would take months and with many wii u left in backstock might never run out lol

It amazes me that you are only prepared to buy a console if it has a firmware that is exploitable unless you are a dev that wants to make homebrew. But Im guessing you arent a dev and just want them free games, I despair.

It amazes me that people just assume things, There are several other reasons to why you would want an exploitable console

  1. Modding
  2. Developing

I actually have a decent background in C++, python, Lua, PHP, C#
Not to mention, Modding consoles is a hobby of mine, I've modded all of my systems so far. If you aren't going to contribute to the thread why bother posting?

It's completely possible that Nintendo gives up trying to patch vulnerabilities on their current hardware with the NX around the corner. 3DS is going on two months with nothing and the Wii U would undoubtedly be assessed as a much smaller risk

If you aren't going to contribute to the thread
Decrying the pirating of games IS a contribution to the thread, and to the scene if you value Nintendo's future as a profitable company. It's just not what you wish to hear. I'm sure you, your 12 posts, and your apparent lack of basic software version knowledge will be of incalculable benefit to the homebrew scene.

To quote the recent Deadpool movie, "Why such a douche this morning?"
