Did any developer mention why they can't solve those random crashes of gpsp??

I've never seen a developer mention the crashes - it also doesn't seem to happen to everyone as well, which is probably part of the problem.

Now that i am using the previous version of retroarch stable everything seems to work fine!

I am just wondering tho what the ideal settings are for the emulators?

I really dont like filtering and i want to play in the original aspect ratio so i set it to "Core provided", but sometimes it still seems a little off because lines are flickering and there are fragments.

Only when i enable HW bilinear filter does it go away.

What am i doing wrong?

Is there any way to contact them?? Perhaps some People who experience crashes could provide some information to them, which is useful for finding the problem??

Set scaling to the '1:1 par' option, it'll make it display in the original resolution across all cores (HW bilinear filtering is a non-issue here). For consoles (I.e. SNES, genesis, arcade machines) turn off integer scale. For handhelds, turn it on (unless you're alright with a tiny screen, which is fine). Be warned that on a few cores you'll get flickering across the top of the screen if you don't have a filter enabled - I'd recommend LQ2x as it won't look any different at 1:1 and takes less cpu power than others.

Post a video, I played through Earthbound up to Fourside with no issues.
Are you using pocketsnes? I can't post a video but I can find one of the song that it freezes in.
Usually it happens in the video at 30 seconds in. If not, then either a second before or later.

OK, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but every time I try to open GPSP through HBL loader, I always get a black screen. I tried the latest nightly, and the latest stable, I even deleted the configuration files, and I still get nothing. Is it related to gba_bios.bin? It even has the MD5 checksum right.

Is MAME 2010 or 2014 too much for the 3DS and Android? Used to be on Android, but now only see it on the Windows Build

I have been playing around a bit further with the settings since 1:1 simply did not work. The window was to narrow and text was almost unreadable without filtering it.

i used "Pixel Aspect Ratio: Config" and it looks simply beautiful. No filtering required anymore.
I also turned on integer scaling.

According to the wiki itself, RetroPie is using libretro-genesisplusgx for SG-1000 emulation, so it's already there in the Genesis Plus GX core. :P And AFAIK it can run Master System/Game Gear and below well on both Old and New 3DSs.

Just tested Genesis Plus GX on the lastest stable build. At the moment retroarch doesn't crash upon loading the SG-1000 titles, but the screen is black.

Edit: Actually, video isn't working in any of my retroarch cias. Is there an issue with the latest stable build?

Did you try with the previous stable version or the nightly branch? It should work AFAIK. You should make a bug report later if it doesn't.

First, I used 1.3.3 to see if that would boot sg-1000 and they didn't load (black screen). I opened the sg-1000 .bin files inside of their zips (open as folder) if that is an issue. I tested Genesis titles (in their zips) and got video. I updated to 1.3.4 and I don't get video in Dosbox or Genesis Plus GX (when loading SG-1000). I got sound when I tested Elite in Dosbox. Granted, I still get video in 1.3.3 versions of Gambette and FCEUmm.

Soo......

I managed to get DeSmuME to compile and run...

Before you get your hopes up, though, it:

  1. Is VERY poorly thrown together and crashes whenever you close a rom
  2. Is based on source from October. Some may remember that I tried to get it to work back then. I decided to give it a shot today and it worked.
  3. Can NOT run DS games (I think it might be due to loading the large ROMs into memory?)
  4. CAN run DS homebrew. I've gotten a few DS demos, utilities, and homebrew games to run.
  5. Runs VERY, VERY slowly. It runs the intro to portalDS at 3 fps on my N3DS....

I'll upload a video tomorrow of a demo and work on it a bit. If I can't find anything, I'll at least upload the source and a cia so others can make it work.

NOTE: There is an ARM JIT that I'm not using. I managed to compile DeSmuME with support for it but it fails to open. With that JIT, we should hopefully have adequate FPS?

EDIT: Ahh what the hell, here's an early extremely rough build to play with. Remember: homebrew only, crashes, slow. Also, be sure to put the NDS BIOS files in the retroarch system folder :)

So just out of curiosity, aside from the settings given in the OP to speed things up, what else can be done settings-wise in PCSX-ReARMed (cia on N3DS) to maximise speed/fps as much as applicable? Does this support DSP for example? Would that even help the emulation and if so how can I get a DSP file to be recognised to utilise that?

And I'm aware that in all likelihood, of course the emulation isn't perfect and no, I'm not expecting top-speed emulation right now; in fact looking at it now it's pretty good and is tolerable to play if not a little jittery (playing a bit of MGS on it) but I believe this is still worth asking. (and I've looked around but there doesn't seem to be very much on the subject.)

Is it intended to kick me back to the HOME Menu when trying to load a (not a commercial) rom on O3DS?

For DSP, just grab either of the DSP Dumpers floating about and run them under whatever *hax exploit and payload you want. As for improving speed in emulation, DSP might help a bit but not much, its main advantage is better audio support. You can also disable Vsync, audio sync, set audio resampler to nearest, make sure all filters are disable (though the HW Bilinear Filter shouldn't matter), and some other small video options (though they're off by default so you shouldn't have to worry about them).

There might also be some stuff under Core Options after you start up a game, but that's about it. RetroArch isn't very customizable in the performance sense, so even then you probably won't squeeze that much out of it.
