When I try to launch homebrew from oot now it just says:

"an error has occured. please save your data in any software currently in use, and then restart the system."

But my 3DS does appear to be 9.2.0-20U

I'm stuck on this step:

"Reinstall menuhax using browserhax and the HomeBrew Launcher (you do not need to reconfigure, just press install in menuhax_manager)"

So is maybe why it's not working because i'm using a different version of the oot hack?

What do I need to do now that i'm downgraded? thankfully everything went really smoothly with no bricks but i'm stuck again so yeah..

Do I just need to reinstall oothax through powersaves again but use a lower firmware version?

Someone help. I can't load my HBL now.

Scan this image with your 3DS QR scanner, and then you could reinstall OOThax.
You should format your OOT saves before reinstalling OOThax though. (Launch OOT3D while holding A, B, X, and Y.)
If you wanna setup an Emunand with Menuhax, you could follow this video. It will give you an idea of what to do after you downgrade.

Edit: Fixed image hyperlink.

Sorry for being dumb but how do I take this? it's through the miimaker?
If you push L and R on the home screen, it'll open the camera. (It's a more watered down version, but it has the scanner.) There's an icon that looks like a QR code on the bottom left side. Tap that, and then point your 3ds at that image. You could open the image in a new tab and zoom in on it some to make it easier on yourself.

Ok. And does this install the proper files I need or do I still need to open my computer?

I have it open now I touched the thing in the top left hand corner and the screen flashed a few times. Now my 3ds is back to the photo screen but it seems frozen or something?

Scanning the code will get you back into HBL. If you have the homebrew starter pack in your SD card, (Which I'm assuming you do) it'll have the OOTHax installer. You might need to copy a few files over to the 3ds. But that's dependent on what you plan to do.
I would follow the video I linked earlier if you wanna go setup a custom firmware. The video has a list of all the things you'll need to copy to the SD card in it. I'm not going to help too much with that because I almost screwed it up doing it to one of my systems.

Well I was using this guide as I said:

https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(Downgrading)

everything was going fine until It wouldn't go back into HBL.

Did you read what I said? I mentioned that it went back to the photoscreen. I wasn't sure what to do so I just clicked the little gray thing in the corner. The bottom screen flashed several different colors and then went back to the photoscreen and it just seemed frozen.

I checked oot 3DS to see if the haxx file got moved onto it but nothing is there. So something must have went wrong please help.

I tried to do it again. used the QR code, got to the screen, clicked the thing in the top left corner but this time it just exited out and gave me an error message.

Instead of using OoT, try to scan this QR to load the browserhax webpage: https://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php

N3DS should load automatically, but if you're using O3DS: Try to clear browser history/cache, zoom in all the way, scroll all the way up-left, and try to tap the very left edge of the slider. It will take a couple of tries before it actually works.

Otherwise, update your OoThax so it's compatible with 9.2.0-20U

Oh, and once you get in, set up menuhax so it's easier to get back into HBL.

The fact that it's crashing just means it's working. Make sure you have boot.3dsx on the SD root, clear your cache/history, and keep trying. It's really annoying to get working, but once you're in, setting up Menuhax should alleviate the problem. (It's included in starter.zip, and is in SD:/3ds/)

Otherwise, update your OoT payload with powersaves using the 9.2 oothax, since that exploit is more consistent.

OoTHax doesn't work because the save on it is for a newer version, say something like 10.7. Now that you're on 9.2, OoTHax won't work. What we're trying to get you to do is use browserhax and (possibly) reinstall OoTHax. You can install Menuhax too like the guide says to do. Now if browserhax doesn't work, you'll want to redownload the starter pack and throw all the files back on your 3ds. Also, and I'm probably wrong, but if you managed to get a franken firmware, your browser won't work and you'll have to update your 3ds and start again.

It just keeps saying an error has occured. So should I just redo the oot powersave over again? what files will I need on this current firmware?(now that I downgraded...uh...I think I did anyway. I didn't actually finish everything from here: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-2-(Downgrading)

I am stuck on step18 because I can't access the menubrowserhax because after the downgrade it woulden't open. So I imagine it may be because I was using files for 10.6 and up. But I also heard that if I didn't do everything in that tutorial that i'm only "partially" on 9.2 and up. Does that mean I need 9.2 files then when I reinstall HB?

Assuming you have a true 9.2.0-20U downgrade, you should use OoThax payload "POST5_U_12288_8203.bin"

Flash that onto your OoT card using powersaves, get into HBL using OoT, install menuhax, and continue the guide. Should be 100% consistent, I think. If not, you'll get it within 3 tries, I'm sure.

EDIT: As of now, there's no way of telling if you have frankenfirmware or not. You'll want to run the homebrew app Downgrade_check and post the log here once you manage to set up Menuhax.

Oh, and change your home menu theme to "No Theme" even if it already is, or menuhax might not install properly.

I'm gonna try going through the QR code a few more times and see if it works. Now i'm not sure if I have a "franken" 9.2 as the other guy mentioned or a true version. I don't think I have a true version because I couldn't finish the steps in that guide. And it looks like I had a few other things to do before it started to make a real 9.2

No worries. See my previous post's edit about downgrade_check. If you do end up having a faulty downgrade, the worst that will happen is you just downgrade again until it downgrades all the important files. (Only ever downgrade with SafeSysUpdater or PlaiSysUpdater, and no other one! It's too dangerous!)

Ok so i'm gonna reinstall the oothax so I can get HBL back. Still not even sure if this is a real 9.2 so if I install that file you mentioned could I brick?...

But it won't start so obviously I MUST have at least a semi real enough 9.2 for it to be NOT working..

Anyway https://github.com/yellows8/oot3dhax/releases/tag/01-25-16

I just wanna double check. Does it matter what payload I use? I know the bin file is very important to your firmware but does this matter at all?

You can't brick from that: It's only touching the save area of your OoT cart, which the worst that can happen is a "corrupt file, will delete".

The most that can happen during the exploit itself is a system crash, which you just hold the power button and reboot.

Yes, the payload you use is important. Use the one I mentioned in the earlier post.
