How often do you turn your PC off?

Just curious, because I just realized my computer is on for 24 days and 6 hours.
It's a laptop, so I close the lid and it goes to sleep mode, but I have no idea if I should be turning it off or not.

Main reason I haven't is because I'm downloading tons of shit on Steam, and if I turn the PC off, Steam resets my downloads ( Even closing Steam does that ).

I'm just worried about it breaking or something, I'm kinda experienced with computers but more on the software side so yeah.

I'll leave it on overnight today, so I can put an end to these downloads and give it a rest if needed.

Just making sure it has appropriate cooling should be enough.

Depends. My desktop maybe once a week. Now my surface book, even though it makes more sense to make then go into sleep mode, I just feel better shutting then down.

Welp, them I'm fine. Temperatures are starting to drop here, my laptop is actually cooler than room temperature :v

But, sometimes I leave it on for about a week with no issues.

I almost never turn off my pc. Usually it stays on unless there's a thunderstorm around, or I'm trying to sleep. Usually I leave it on so FoldingAtHome can do it's thing.

I never shut mine down.
Computers are designed to run 24/7 and shutting them down adds stress to hardware components, and after long periods of up time and then shutting them down can and will crack soldier.
Processors are not fixed to the boards hence why video game systems burn up.
I actually asked this similar question on multiple tech sites out of curiosity.
But to each their own I imagine...

I used to keep my older laptop in sleep mode all the time, with fast RAM reload, so I could continue exactly where I left.
My current laptop (bought in December) is always shut down if I'm not using it, which is pretty much never unless I leave the house going to work

My laptop is never turned off; but when it is, it's not off for long. My laptop is my only alarm at the moment; and I'm using Windows 10. So I just set my Laptop to never sleep and I connect it to my charger and my laptop is right next to me and it wakes me up!

i have a problem with leaving laptops on like that, i used to do that with my acer and i destroyed the battery. the computer ended up dying so many times because of its inability to hold a charge when the charger falls out that the hard drive eventually got corrupt. i got a new laptop, but i dont like to leave it plugged in.

I shut them down whenever I'm not using them. With SSDs, boot up is usually less than 15 seconds, so it's not a big deal.

I always shut mine off every night, but I usually leave it running through the day for downloads like you. Only occasionally setting it in rest mode when nothing is downloading but I may use it later.
