Then it really doesn't completely format NAND. You you restore a previous NAND backup I'm sure they'll disappear.
even if you do system restore, nand games do not go away. why don't you buy a legit DSi game and try it?

If you use that demo mode to boot a game it won't load essential system modules, even though Ninjhax 2.X no longer requires the browser, it still requires several parts of the system to be working, so you won't be able to boot the Homebrew launcher. Maybe it would be possible to create a direct payload for something like Decrypt9 on OoThax or Ninjhax, but I'm not sure if it's been done or if it's even possible.

Apparently i'm still under warranty thanks to club nintendo's 90 day extension if you register. i bought the MH4U LE back in last year February, and I thought I was SOL until I called Nintendo.

I don't really care about having a new unit or not, what I'm worried about is my saves and StreetPass data.

I only have my SD card files. I didn't have any SaveDataFiler backups at all.

Strangely, I never formatted sysnand during the whole process of flashing A9LH.

I only formatted my unlinked emuNAND twice using tinyformat before downgrading my emuNAND to 2.1, and then acquired OTP by copying downgraded emuNAND 2.1 to sysNAND. Later I restored the previous backup of my sysNAND and emuNAND.

What my concern is: Did you do the formatting twice using tinyformat? Before flashing A9LH, I installed GBA VC game in my emuNAND. The GBA VC game still showed up after the first time I did a format using tinyformat. After the second format, the GBA VC game simple vanished in my emuNAND.

I thought DSi titles are somehow similar to the GBA VC titles....

A little bit advice, actually hard-mod isn't that difficult if you have an intact previous sysNAND backup. I know in China, it costs only 80 RMB (the Chinese currency) to do a hard mod, and probably I know its address if I ask my cyber acquaintance. Shipping fee is obviously one of your concern though.

Iirc, cia safe files are all stored in your SD card (Nintendo 3DS file). As long as you got your machine restored to a previous backup by hard-mod, you should be able to pick up those save files with your present SD card.

If you plan on sending it in to Nintendo, they will ask you to send in your SD card. Make sure the only thing on the root of the card is the Nintendo 3DS folder (with ONE folder inside of it, so delete any emuNAND or redNAND folders if applicable) and a DCIM folder if you've taken pictures with it. From my experience, all the content will remain intact since the 'ownership' will be transferred to the next 3DS they send you. The only thing I can't confirm is StreetPass data, I didn't check for that before I screwed up and wiped everything by accident later down the line.

I haven't looked at the guides in a while... do you by chance have xorpads for your nand backups? If so, you'll be able to get all of your data back manually (including street pass stuff), even if they send a new system and that data happens to be missing when you get it. Just keep your nand backup (hopefully, it isn't corrupted) and a copy of your SD card contents.

no xorpads too unfortunately. next time i'll most likely get xorpads now.
Try recovery mode.
