Hi all,
Pretty new to the whole scene, just getting to grips with everything. I've flashed or chipped every console I've ever owned so I thought i'd try my hand at the 3DS. I started off with a 10.3.27E? I believe, I followed a couple of tutorials and managed to get it all running the homebrew launcher. I used Safe System Updater, checked all files and it all looked good.

SSU started installing the files, then the dreaded Nintendo "An Error has occurred message popped up" I shut it down and put it back on and despite holding L it booted straight into the Home Menu, I checked firmware number and it states it's on 9.2, obviously I've read up on partial downgrades. But through all the advice I'm reading I'm not sure what my next step is. I have checked using Downgrade Check and it doesn't check out so it's definitely a partial (frankenfirmware) as someone referred to it ha!

I've got back up to being able to boot The Homebrew Launcher, I'm wondering what my options are. Do I attempt to continue the installation of 9.2? Do I use SSU or SU to do it?

Do I reinstall 10.3 and start again? If so how do I go about this? In the same way using SU/SSU? Or do I have to get a game card that has the 10.3 update on it?

Help would be appreciated in this regard, as I am bricking it (Excuse the pun ha)

you continue the downgrade.-

Would you recommend the ordinary SysUpdater (which I could never get to boot despite trying 20 odd times) or do I use SSU do you think? Going to take a break for an hour, been fiddling for ages! I'll see what the general consensus is and then I'll probably give it a go.
Thanks

Yes sysupdater is the best way to do it. If you have the option, update to 10.7 and use an exploit game to launch sysupdater, I've found it works more reliably on 10.7.

I'd use PlaiSysUpdater.

Just run it and continue the downgrade.

Should I update it up to a stable firmware? How do I go about this? The same way I was trying to downgrade or?
Thanks again guys, need to weigh my options haha

don't update, just use the same sysupdater you used to downgrade and run the downgrade again
If he has the ability to downgrade after update I do think it actually makes it run smoother. Not required but it could solve issues.

no, if he updates he doubles the risk of bricks.
Really? I didn't know about that, when I downgraded my 10.3 console in January it took 45 minutes but my 10.7 console last week worked first try. Guess I got lucky.

ah, you mean by system settings? still double risk. cause: if he updates via sysupdater, it's risky, if he updates via system settings and run downgrade aggain, it's dangerous cause what if he fails again? to recover from a frankenfirmware he must click downgrade again.,

When this happens to my N3ds, I just continued the downgrade using the sysupdator app through homebrew launcher, installed what it missed last time and then everything was fine.

Right okay, I selected to continue with the downgrade. SSU said it completed then said it would reboot, it didn't so I turned the 3DS off and then back on and it says i'm on 9.2, I've tried launching the Downgrade Check and it says there is mismatched versions. However the NATIVE_FIRM is no longer on the list? Does this mean it's now fully on 9.2?

The only errors I'm seeing on the Downgrade Check are GPIO system module, DSP system module and obviously the amiibo. Is there any other way I can determine if it the 9.2 downgrade has been successful?

Thanks to all the help so far, I was only a little bit worried as it's a brand new N3DS hah!

Those mismatched things nothing to worry about then?
Jeez that was so stressful there for a minute. I've been out of the game since FW4.5 when I had my 3DS stolen. Either way going to pick up a Gateway! Thanks everyone yet again! Much appreciated for the assist.
