I've used a good variety of Flashcart's, and I know how most of them work. So I'm here today to help people with any problems when using Flashcart's. I will also help out people if they don't understand how to add cheats to their specific Flashcart's, and also how to setup the Kernel / YSMenu. I'm not very smart when it comes to Slot 2 Card's, but I'll do my best.

Do you have a recent card from r4isdhc.com.cn? I want to know if they have the "firmware expired" problem. You can check by setting your DS date to 2020 or whatever and loading it.

Not a recent one, but if you have that problem, you can easily switch the year back and see if that fixes it.

I have an r4isdhc.com (no dash) 2016 dual-core flash cart which as far as I know is identical to the 2015 one I had, I got the ysmenu .dat from https://gbatemp.net/threads/r4sdhc-dual-core-firmware.421665/#post-6229829

and the RetroGameFan's folder of stuff for it. I copied my save off my Pokemon Black cart and put it onto my flash cart to play, but when I attempt to save it freezes. I've tried a number of things:

- Tried Pokemon White - Freezes after picking gender, same with Black/White 2
- I have all my Roms trimmed, I tried an untrimmed rom, no change.
- I reformatted the SD card completely with the panasonic formatter, Overwrite, size adjust.
- Tried with and without in-game reset, DMA.

Is it just an out-of-date version of ysmenu or something? It doesn't make very much sense to me.

My SD Card is a 32GB samsung Micro SD, marking on it says class 1.
The Version no. for ysmenu says 7.04RGF in the bottom right corner.

Edit: the original firmware seems to let it save fine but seems to force it to the highest brightness, it must be an ysmenu problem, but I really hate the stock firmware, is there any way to update it or something?

I could care less about RTS. The advantage of YSmenu that I really care about is that scrolling is a million times faster than the stock firmware, it doesn't have a stupid Final Fantasy XIII Theme (but you can change it to a mario theme too but it's still bad), and it doesn't fall asleep in 3 seconds, slowly wipe the screen black then wait for input.

Default menu has a game limit, also doesn't have folder support. Games don't appear if they are located inside more than one folder.

I think that was a thing that happened with old versions of wood when Black/White 2 had just come out, but I'd never heard of it happening in original black/white until now.

I forgot about folders too. I have a folder specifically for pokemon and another for homebrew, it's pretty great.

Are the start up videos slow before you get to the title screen? If so, that is indicative that your µSD is too slow...

Black 1 didn't have any slowdown, at least noticable. Black/White 2 had slowdown on the professor juniper speech, but I didn't notice any on the title screen or videos. I'll try out your file, give me a moment.

Also, would trimming the roms not help with that? I guess if it was reading it in real-time.
Untrimmed clean rom not helping.

on the 32, fixed the saving on Black 1, White 2 still freezes after picking a gender. What did the change do?

Gave it another go with a second Micro SD, 8gb class 4, didn't save on black until after I changed that file, and after changing it I can set up a name in White 2. That main character has some crazy hair. White 2 saved too, at least once. Black 50/50 freezes on saving still, I've tried turning off in-game reset and DMA as well. Is there any recommended SD card to use? I don't know what the ideal would be.

Also, to clarify, if you launch it up and save it'll save just fine (usually). If you make some progress and then try to save then it crashes. A few times I've had it get like 3, or 5 dots and keep spinning endlessly but mostly it just freezes.

Here's a video of the problem, meantime I went to the best buy and bought another Micro SD, I'll try with and without the Extinfo and see.

OK, SD Card #3 suffers the same problem, with and without Extinfo.dat changed. I thought this might be a problem with the modified R4.dat at this point, After trying with the default kernel and loading ysmenu with the ysmenu.nds, no dice. The Stock r4isdhc.com firmware works with it fine, so all else fails I suppose I'll just have to use it for pokemon black.

Downgrading to the 7.03 pack worked once, but after putting the old save back on and trying 2 more times it didn't work either, must have been a fluke. Any ideas @retrogamefan ?

Hi, I got an R4i GOLD Pro from www.r4i-gold.com to use with a DSi. I updated the firmware from here http://www.r4wood.com/pages/r4i%2dgold-firmware.html to the version 3DS V6.0, but my flashcart isn't 2013 and I get a white screen, the page says that I can revert the firmware to 4.5 but it doesn't say how. Any idea? Thanks

You need to get a kernel for your flashcart. Try RGF's YSMenu on your cart.

Copy it somewhere else for backup. Now rename the ROM to something else and rename the save file so that it has the same name of the ROM's new name.

Not so much the setup instructions, but the best kernel to use... although instruction on getting Wood onto the iTouch would be nice (I've posted a separate posting for that).

Im new to this site, still learning the ropes so if I mess up somehow, please tell me!

Im using r4igold rts 3ds as it says on the card, the website is www.r4ids.cn.

I don't know if this is the official site or not, but I've been trying to get Pokemon White 2 to run on it, but to no avail.

I've tried to use another menu loader thing, but it turns an error message saying some ID is invalid or something, I can't recall.

Is there anything I can do to make the game run? I tried to use wood 1.62 and the card just freezes, doesn't load for some reason. I'm not sure how to update it or whatever, I just place files on the SD card, right?
