I use a 128GB SD card, will I notice any improvements in loading if I install arm9loader?
I have a n3DS with 128G and an o3DS with 64G. Both al9h sysNAND 10.7. The 128G n3DS boots a couple seconds quicker then the 64G o3DS, then loads the icons about 5s quicker.
I also have a 64G n3DS. It boots a couple seconds quicker then the 128G.
Should time them I suppose.
The 128G is way faster on sysNAND then emuNAND. Booting GBA games is much quicker.

1. Improvements in loading
2. Eliminates need for emuNAND
3. Your SD card becomes the only thing that can boot your system
4. Higher bricks occur on N3DS for some reason but I installed it to mine :)
5. It's incredibly better then menuhax
6. It's like having a hardmod
I heard it improves in loading but it doesnt answer my question specifically if it will improve loading for SDXC users or not.

Sounds terrific. I'd love to join you if you know where I can find a proper guide so I can install this safely and efficiently, please and thank you.

i will have to say if you follow the guide step by step you will be fine, i dive in and did my N3ds hyrule edition and my old 3ds Fire emblem edition in the last 2 days and they guide is pretty well written. The only way i can see you bricking your 3ds if you decide not to follow the guide or something crazy happend like power goes off or somebody closes your 3ds in a critical setup. So keep your 3ds charging and dont let toddler and dogs touch your 3ds when you are doing this, it will take around 1 to 3 hr depending on the 3ds. I hope this helps and if you decide to join the a9lh master race welcome lol...
im literally doing this to my N3ds hyrule edition now and so far all has run smoothly. aint encountered any issues. YET though im on the last part of the tutorial

Much quicker booting times (you can go from cold boot to Home Menu in under 10 seconds, if you don't have a 128GB SD, even if you use emuNAND)

I can confirm the load time as on my o3DS with a Sandisk Class 10 32GB MicroSD Card /w Adapter, used Timely (Clock/Stopwatch&Timer/Alarm Clock App for Android), used it's Stopwatch mode and timed the boot from after the splash screen to Home Menu and it took 9.96 secs to boot

I concur - my menuhax has 100% success rate and I'm able to launch an app from grid launcher within 25 seconds from powering on the unit. Maybe 30 if I dither about what to load.

..so A9LH might well only halve / shave 10-15 seconds off the boot time for me.

There's no question of A9LH's benefits but reports of mega drastic boot time increases over an apparently 'unreliable' menuhax seem ever so slightly exaggerated from where I am..

I use to be in denial just like you guys, but once you have a taste of A9LH you will never look back to menuhax, plus the benefit to boot decrypt9 it's awesome. I have a 128gb sd half full and it takes 9 sec to boot, on none A9LH or menuhax with ctrbootmanager it use to take around 35 to 40 sec. It's a huge improvement, plus Uncart and Emunand9 I can't say more, A9LH it's just fantastic.

1. A9LH CFW takes the same time to load as normal system (but you can add bootscreen if you want, CFW will load nevertheless)
2. CFW will automatically load on every boot without being stuck on yellow screen
3. You can update your SysNAND anywhere (in eShop, for example) and not worry about CFW
4. You don't need to transfer EmuNAND to another SD card, just copy and paste
5. Changing region made quite simple
6. Access to Decrypt9/EmuNAND9/GodMode9 at any time
7. Easy DSi/GBA title installation
8. Your system spends less energy
9. much faster, doesn't depend as much on SD card class

If you want to autoboot Gateway, stick with menuhax for the time being.

If you have A9LH, you'll have to hold buttons to boot sysNAND/menuhax in order to load Gateway anyway.
I boot into AuReiNand's sysnand with 9.0 firm without holding buttons (granted, I built my own, but it's only changing a 1 to a 0 in the source) and I launch GW using Gateway_cia. This isn't the same as autobooting, but it's just as fast, and I have all the benefits of both.

Clearly a simple, non-CFW setup would not be adequate for your needs.

But there's no denial from me. I time how long menuhax on autoboot takes me to where I want to go and it's around 25 seconds from pressing power on. I've always used class 10 cards and I haven't had a single failed or stuck boot since the 2.6 hax release. These are stone cold facts.

Unlike most folk here, I'm perhaps a 'light' user, one with zero interest in installing CIAs or using anything other than retro video game emulators. Seriously - the last 3DS software I was interested in was the final eshop Sega 3D classic release, and I bought and N3DS on day one specifically and only to enjoy the Sega 3D ports at their best.

I'm *really* passionate about a lot of 8-16-bit and pre-PS2 video game libraries and have barely played most of the 3DS titles I've bought over the last 5 years. Honestly, if someone handed me a pile of premium 3DS software I know I'd never be bothered enough to even boot let alone play or go through the process of being able to convert it to CIA. The whole shebang would be utterly wasted on me.

It's literally pointless for me personally to downgrade / setup emunand / install A9LH etc but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in other users and thier experiences.

I really hope that Gateway (or is it possible someone else can?) makes some type of plugin that makes it so you can boot to gateway using A9LH.

A9LH boot times are so fast!

From what I can tell via testing myself, Gateway works with AL9H systems but only if loaded via homebrew launcher (via CIA, Cubic Ninja, Web Browser, ETC)

Gateway Launcher only works on sysnand using 9.0 firm [holding L+Start then press power while continuing to hold L+START]

Gateway for unknown reasons to me can only boot Gateway Mode (sysnand) [hold B when choosing GW mode from MENU] and black screens booting GW Emunand mode.

The thing is unlike all the other hacks it's border line impossible for Nintendo to male a patch to remove a9lh if not impossible on top of the fact that it allows you to restore your system to a working state if it bricks for some reason. So even if your nor doing it for the stability or speed increase doing it because you want something that you can must update your system worry free is one of the other main reasons.

I definitely agreed with you, if you are a light user I will not go to the whole process of doing A9LH, it took me 3 hours the first time I did it on my N3ds. I been a gamer for 28 years and the only reason I came back to my 3ds was for Fire Emblem Fates and Bravely Second since I love JRPG and SRPG. I apologize in advance if I sound it like I was pushing you to go into A9LH that was not my intention. I was just trying to give info on why I switch and how much I like it.
