So some feedback on using your 2.1chunkhax downgrader. (both 2DS & N3DS)

Downgrade from 10.6.0-31U

HAX SUCCESS... (1st attempt - had some debug text below)
40=40=40 0=0 p=p

Downgrade Result = Success.

Downgrade from 10.3.0-20U

Downgrade Result = Failed all attempts on HAX INIT... (15 attempts)

Upgrade system to 10.6 and downgrade again.

1st Attempt: Frozen @ HAX INIT...
2nd Attempt: Successful - Downgraded.

Downgrade from 10.2.0-20U

Downgrade Result = Failed all attempts on HAX INIT... (15 attempts)

Upgrade system to 10.6 and downgrade again.

1st Attempt: Success - Downgraded.

So I guess long story short, downgrading from latest version seem to work fine. However the old 9.3-10.3 memchunkhax2 range doesn't seem to respond well to memchunk 2.1 and fails far too frequently.

All downgrades however were successful with no errors.

Cool, many thanks for all the reports it helps a lot. I guess I'll add the old hax back for lower firms.

Thanks again !

on its own 10.3 DG is pretty stable and boots almost on the first try.

maybe a check could be added to execute svchax if the fw is 10.4/5/6 ? idk

So, latest build seems to work well, so i updated the first post ! (I also added a check to apply latest hax only on fw > 10.3).

- v1.0: add new hax for FW > 10.3
- v1.0: downgrade browser and homemenu last (but before native_firm)
- v1.0: few bug fix and improvements

for whatever reason i keep getting a message that says Failed to get cia files but i put them in a folder named updates in the root of the folder and put sysupdater in where the homebrew apps go. Any ideas how to fix this? I am trying to downgrade from 10.6.0-31U to 9.2.0-20U but it doesn't seem to be detecting the cia files either that or the o3DS and o3DS XL use different ones...

Last edited by Charmeleon,
I've tried using the sysupdater from this page: https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888/ and from this thread but neither seem to work. The sysupdater from that link always tells me it can't locate the cias or something hile this one atleast tells me all the files are good but when I try downgrading it just stops eternally at a screen with the text "HAX INIT." and nothing happens...

So, if i got it right, the same 1.0 Safesysupdater executable can be used to downgrade from 10.3 or 10.6, instead of mingling with 2 differents sysupdater executables (one for 10.3 and one for 10.6) ?

Yes it should, but >= 10.3 will need multiples tries as before, while > 10.4 seems to be more stable.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

just successfully downgraded o3DS from 10.6
Cool ! Glad it worked.

Has anyone been able to downgrade succesfully from 10.5 on a N3DS? A friend had several trouble booting the normal sysupdater and I figured safesysupdater might work better but I'd like to double check how well this works at the moment.

I guess it will have the same boot-rate as modded sysUpdater as it rely on the same hax.

I always get an integrity fail check on 0004001000020900 with a Japanese N3DS, guessing nobody has tested this with a Japanese N3DS before :P

Silly question, can it be used in anyway way to downgrade from 10.6 or 9.2 to 2.1 ? :D

Here's an update with your new 1.0 release.

Downgrading from 10.3.0-20U

1st Attempt: HAX INIT SUCCESS...
Downgrade Result = Success.

Downgrading from 10.2.0-20U

1st Attempt: HAX INIT FAILED (Frozen)
2nd Attempt: HAX INIT SUCCESS

Downgrade Result = Success.

Downgrading from 10.6.0-31U

1st Attempt: HAX INIT SUCCESS...
Downgrade Result = Success.

Findings:

6 Downgrade Attempts = 6 successful downgrades (no softbricks)
Only failed a couple times, and worked fairly quickly. (Not the 100x people say. Though to be honest never took me more than 6)
Note, the 9.3-10.3 range seems to hate rebooting XD Not sure why but it's always been like that on most sysUpdaters. Turning off works fine.

Anyways, looks good!

Probably should add: These were straight downgrades. No opening FTPBRony, formatting the system, or deleting update notifications.

Silly question, can i be used in anyway way to downgrade from 10.6 or 9.2 to 2.1 ? :D

Of course not. It may be possible on the 2DS/3DS, but why risk sysNAND. Without appending the NCSD header on a N3DS, you'd immediately brick the system.

Well many thanks for your reports, you're the one :)

Would you recommend getting rid of at least legit that are > 9.2 before attempting to downgrade or it is fine to keep these and try?
