Hacking 5.5.0 progress

If you actually were reading that status updates that they were putting out there, there was no actual release date specified, more like release time frame and that changed a few times.

They even specified that those could possible change.

Like I stated before, I have the entire month of January free just to work on this and the exploit will be released and maintained before February (yes, I'm sure of that).
Now the good news, which should explain the additional delay. I need some time to pursue something I found in the MCP module. -snip- With that said, if this turns out to be nothing, I'll release the exploit right away.

For sure before February release. And if MCP didn't work out, it'll be right away. MCP didn't work out btw...

So there. That's why people are pissed. It has nothing to do with being entitled or thinking the devs owe us things...

Then you have people like me. I bought my Wii U around the time this was said. Hykem said for sure before Feb. The definitive guide was updated to say before Feb. Every "official" thing in this forum said for sure before Feb. So I said screw it, I want to enjoy my Wii U legit for a few weeks before exploit. So I updated, knowing that I will not be able to mod or anything for a few weeks...

@mods please close any thread about the subject because its always the same result.
If you want the exploit find it yourself, or be patient and be happy anyone releases anything at all.

The little difference I see, is that the Hykem "defenders" don't deny that he made a mistake by talking too fast. Its only that though. A mistake. It's understandable that it raises concerns, but it doesnt excuse months of bullshitting on his case and calling him a liar every day, non stop. He does help the community, just not the way he said he would, and not just as fast.
It's the retaliation that is completely ridiculous, even more when those who complain do absolutely nothing for the community.
You were wrong to buy a Wii U just for an upcoming hack. It's exactly like support 9.2 with Gateway back in the day. Except Gateway actually made money out of it, Hykem doesn't.

So either Smea has his own iosu. (Possible but a complete waste of time since Hykem was working on it, plus Hykem said he is coordinating with the "other" team for a release .)
Or Hykem finished it and gave it to Smea to continue development.

In no way, shape or form, does it show anything about how it's achieved.
Knowing this community, what happens when something is released that either requires hardmodding or is potentially risky? Tons of people whining cause it's too hard, cause their console is bricked, cause they didnt read.

No hardmodding is needed he clearly says that in the video.
Plus no regular user not is going to develop his own thing and brick his console, and if he does then thats his own fault.
Releasing this would enable other developers to actually develop useful things for the end user, thats the whole concept of having a homebrew scene instead of 5 people working on staff they may or may not release you can have 50 people working on their own thing.

Here's how it works for you kids new to this sort of stuff. And this will help stop the flame wars and all the bullshit as well.

Until something is released, it's fake and doesn't deserve attention. Even if it's more then likely real, it's fake. Even if it's a claim by a trusted contributor with pics, it's fake. The problem is as soon as someone announces something everybody starts preejaculating all over the place. The whole point of releasing hacks, from bunny to darkalax to smealum, is fame. Don't give them that until the work is completed and released. Otherwise this shit happens. Why would anyone release anything if they get more attention dangling a carrot?
