So I have two n3DS XLs. One I have successfully installed CFW on and another which is stuck on 10.5. I am going to make the CFW 3DS my new main console, whereas the one stuck on 10.5 was my main. Do I need to do a system transfer between these two consoles if I wish to play some of the downloaded games I bought from the eShop? I have unlinked my NANDs on both of these systems and reformatted both of them as well during the whole process. I have not logged into my NNID on either of the consoles and have only a handful of games that I bought, but would like to have access to on my new console if need be.

If I am going to system transfer, am I going to do it from sysNAND 10.5 (older 3ds) to cfw emuNAND 10.5 (newer oob console)? Or what is my next move here to essentially abandon the 3ds stuck on sysnand 10.5.

Thanks!

if you log into your NNid on the emunand console you should have eshop access to all your games

Awesome, that is what I was thinking but was not 100% sure. So the system transfer is not necessary? And I can go ahead and abandon/sell my older console?

I'm pretty sure you're going to need to do a system transfer, as your NNID is tied to the hardware serial number. When I got my N3DSXL and downgraded / setup emunand, I had to call Nintendo and tell them my other 3DS was broke, and gave them the serial # for both of them. Until they transferred my NNID, I was unable to relink my NNID to the new system so I could redownload my eshop stuff.

Yeah I was actually thinking of doing the same since I wasn't sure what to do with my System Transfer. I wouldn't do a system transfer from old3ds 10.5 to hacked3ds 9.2 would I? And wouldn't doing that affect my emunand that is already setup?

From what I understand, you can do a system transfer from a 10.5 SYSNAND to a 10.5 EMUNAND, but it's a bit finicky especially once you have to reboot the systems and is prone to losing save games during the transfer.

That said, a friend said he did a system transfer from SYSNAND to Emunand, and it wiped his ability to install CIA files from emunand and he had to restore his emunand from a backup anyway. If you're not worried about saves, calling Nintendo and having them do it might be the better option.

Yeah I am not worried about saves at all really. I extracted whatever I wanted via svdt and honestly only really want the option to be able to download those titles that I bought from the eShop at my convenience. I don't want them to be lost in the mess that Nintendo has setup regarding eShop purchases.
