Hardware new 3ds screen

just got a new 3ds (animal crossing bundle) brand new from toys r us, and after setting up for a while, i turned it off to use it later. when i turn it on, the blue light goes on, but both screens don't even bother to glow, or any sound, any help to see if i have to return it?

What were you doing during this "setting up"? Were you hacking it? Downgrading it? Or just simply going through the initial setup with raising the 3D slider and such?

Try booting without the SD card in as a first test.

here is a detailed version of what happened,

i got my new 3ds, then i extracted smea's homebrew starter pack to the root of my sd.
then i used browserhax to launch hb launcher, when i arrived at the menuhax manager, i chose to install, it was successful, then i configured it
to use the a button to load th hb launcher. Afterwards, i manually booted menuhax twice successfully, then i tried to install menuhax with a custom theme, so
I put a custom theme in the right directory and i chose in the menuhax manager, "install with custom theme" i chose that and then it successfully installed with the body_lz.bin(i think thats the name) then it froze at installing the bgm file, for about 12 minutes. So i thought a reboot would fix it, so then i held the power button to turn of my 3ds. when i tried to turn it on, the blue light turned on, the screens didn't even turn on with light, it just stood there with no display, then i tried taking out the battery, the sd card, the gamecard in and out, but nothing worked.
