I am trying to get my used vita I bought yesterday on a higher FW because email hack doesn't work apparently on any less than 3.00. I want to play my psp backups which are .csos and also emulators with custom bubbles. I have a few games and vita games if needed for updating.

I think if you insert one of the cartridges and boot into recovery mode (power completely off, then hold down Power button + PS button + R Button) then there will be an option to update by card. I think it tells you what update is on the card. I would do that first before we resort to manual updating.

Yeah doing that now it's updating me just waiting. Also should I have wifi turned off at all times before I go with TN-V?

Awesome. That's the firmware I updated to when I got my 3.01 Vita. (I used Minecraft, that also has 3.15 on it. ;))

So go ahead and update I guess, and I'll talk you through the rest in a minute.

@Voxel Studios What am I suppose to do now?
If memory serves me correctly, I think you have to tweak the QCMA settings so that the CMA protocol is set to 3.10, and that the "disable wifi monitoring" and "offline mode" boxes are ticked as well. Then close and re-open QCMA, plug your Vita into the PC with a USB cable, then it should be able to connect.
