I recently installed a Cia for super smash bros on my 3ds. After downloading via nasa, I returned to my home menu, but it said I have to update my 3ds to play it. (I'm on 10.3) The icon doesn't even show on my home menu. When I go to data management is says that super smash bros is installed. Is there any way I can play it?

i heard that makes the games all show in home menu.

Unless your smash bros cia was a different region then it wont show at all lol

Well I installed a European version on my US 3ds because I couldn't find any legit cias for super smash bros. Is there no way I can run it via some type of home brew?

Any particular reasoning you haven't gone through the downgrade process, to run this off emunand instead?
I haven't tried, is it worth it?

Ok IMO this should be changed but I just loaded Hans, took out my game Cartridge and THEN it lets me select super smash bros

It's up to you to determine if it's worth it. It is a rather long process (and there IS some level of bricking risk, although if you're careful it's quite low). The end result is having a copy of your NAND running from an SD card that you can (relatively) safely update, and install basically whatever cia's you care to ("legit" or not). Plenty of other threads around detail how to go through this process if it's something you want to go through.

successfully downgraded :D I feel bad for the 40 people that reported that they bricked their devices.

What do I do now? Can I just install non-legit cias with nasa and will it let me play them?

Well too bad I can't get rxTools to work :(
You might have a "franken-firmware" in which case some system titles and possibly NATIVE_FIRM didn't downgrade propperly. I downgraded the second time and it worked but before you try that what can you not get to work?
