Hey I noticed there is no real guide on how to get gba virtual console to work with reinand so i thought i would post a thread telling people how i got it to work on reinand.

Ok so you are going to want to have the fbi cia file installed in reinand you are going to do this by installing it using the fbi 3dsx file through ninjhax link: https://github.com/Steveice10/FBI/releases

so now you are going to to want to take you sd card out of your 3ds and put it into a computer it does not matter weather it is a mac or windows and you are going to want to downlaod the patched agb_firm links: (n3ds: -removed-) (o3ds/2ds: -removed-)

so now you will want to put the sd card back into the 3ds and open fbi in reinand and find the patched agb-firm cia file you are going to want to press the L button to switch to installing to nand and install it if fbi says that the title already exists and if it is ok to overwrite the existing title say yes this is just the old unpatched agb firm that can't play anything but ambassator games

now take the sd card out of the 3ds as we will need some virtual console games to play so download a gba virtual console game and then put your sd card back into your 3ds and open fbi in reinand and find your virtual console game then press L again to switch the install path to nand and install press start to continue and then press L again to switch the install path to the sd card and click install press start to continue

Now you are done you can play gba virtual console on you're 3ds keep in mind i did do this on a n3ds and have not tested it on an old 3ds but if you want to try it on an old 3ds I am not responsible for any damages that might happen to your 3ds

so i have to install the games to Nand and SD ?
how do i uninstall the games?
well i would guess you would delete them from sysnand and your cfw/emunand or just the emunand and if you are concerned about space issues the virtual console games only take up about 58 blocks so they aren't that big

You're welcome xD

This is wrong.

This little guide is assuming you already have FBI on your home menu for both your syNAND and emuNAND
Here guys:

Step 1. Download the specified patched AGB file for your 3ds model (you could also download a GBA cia to test install so you dont have to put your SD card back in your computer after this is complete)

Step 2. Put the patched AGB file on your SD card (i put all my cia files on a folder called cia)

Step 3. While you still have your SD card in your comp, if you dont already have it, go and download the FBI cia to install onto your system.

Now that you have all the required files on your SD card you are ready.

Step 4. Now insert your SD card back into your 3DS and load up the Homebrew launcher. From here launch pastacfw (or minipasta which i prefer) to boot into your sysNAND with cfw patches

Step 5. You should already have the FBI cia installed onto your sysNAND but of not then you need to inject it into your health and saftey app (you can find a guide on here somewhere). So you should be in sysNAND with pasta patches applied at this point. Launch the FBI channel and install the patched AGB_FIRM file to your --->"NAND"<--- by pressing L to switch the install destination.

Step 6. If you want to install a GBA cia you have downloaded at this point then go ahead and continue after installing the AGB to NAND, press L to switch back over to installing to your SD and install the GBA game to your --->"SD"<---

Step 7. Now launch into reiNAND and then boot up the FBI channel you should already have on your home menu

Step 8. Install the patched AGB again to your "NAND" (yes it must be on both your sysNAND and emuNAND)

Step 9. Now install the same GBA game you installed on your sysNAND onto your emuNAND (MAKE SURE TO SWITCH BACK TO INSTALL TO SD)

So to sum it all up, you should have the patched AGB file installed on both your syNAND and emuNAND to the NAND through FBI (FBI must be launched from home screen for proper permission to install CIA files).

You then must install whatever GBA game you want to the SD portion in FBI in both the sysNAND AND the emuNAND. You should then be able to play your GBA games on your emuNAND :D

DO NOT INSTALL THE GBA GAMES ONTO YOUR NAND!!! MAKE SURE YOU ARE INSTALLING THEM TO YOUR SD!!!

I actually only installed the patched agb to my emunand and i have the unpatched agb in my sysnand. I do have the gba games installed on both sysnand and emunand (on sd card). And I didn't see he said to install it to nand on fbi

Yeah if you were to install the games to the NAND it would just show up as a black box on your home menu. So do not do what he said in the part that I underlined

no i literlly only had fbi intalled on emunand and then i used the guide exactly as i said and not only that i used a couple different meathods used with other custom firmwares which specifically say to install the gba games to sysnand and emunand. and about the part where you said i expected people to have fbi installed to sysnand to I have no clue how to do that so yea.

so that makes this part unecisary? if it is i do not mean to mislead anyone i was just trying to help people but i welcome the information

Yes you are misleading people. You dont ever install any kind of game onto the NAND, always to the SD

well then i am not the only one there are tons of guides for gba vc that explicitly tell you to install the vc to sysnand and emunand
Installing on both sysnand and emunand does not mean installing to nand, it simply means that you install it on the SD CARD from both sysnand AND emunand, not to the actual nand partition.

On the old 3ds I only installed agb to the sysnand. Are you sure you need to install the agb file to emunand too?

If you're using newer rxTools, agb doesn't need to be installed because rxTools patches agb (from my understanding, since I didn't install it on sysNAND or emuNAND)

Do your nands need to be linked for this to work? Seeing as you need to install the game to the SD in sysnand and install the game to SD in emunand, then I would assume the nands need to be linked still? Which if that's the case then.. Won't you get the INFINITE CIA RE-WRAP and you'll always need to unwrap any cia's you installed to your system?

No, they need to be unlinked. If they were linked, it'd only be necessary to install the games to EmuNAND.

I'm having some trouble with this. The strange thing is none of my installed shows up on my sysnand. And I haven't unliked them yet. I still have the same long string of letters and numbers in my microsd's Nintendo 3DS Folder. Also dsiware gets "an error has ocurred"

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.
