In 2011 Nintendo released the 3DS
At some point a few years later in 2013 Gateway Released the first working Flashcart at the end of 2014 (Basically just over 1 year ago) the first CFW's started to appear (See Palantine)

Then we got ninjhax in november 2014

Although its 2016 and theres still alot the 3DS is not capable of or Nintendo hasn't given us

  • SNES VC on eShop
  • GBA VC on eShop for all
  • BootROM still not dumped
  • No NDS games on eShop/CIA Dumps (Although yes you can use a Flashcart some people don't want to)
  • Region Free SysNAND No Homebrew
  • Full NAND Decryption and NAND Resotration with Any NAND for those without prior NAND backups
The Nintendo DS had all of these (Minus the NDS one and the VC) and was fully cracked wide open by this point in its life

This thread is to discuss your thoughts on these (typed this on my phone so if there are any spelling mistakes I'll fix them tomorrow) and perhaps a bit of NX Speculation can be added in :P

I think the best thing we've achieved out of all this is.... Soon:D

Really, whenever someone says "soon", we all know what that means, which isn't as soon as soon should be :P

snip, just going to do this outside of quotes
In 2011 Nintendo released the 3DS
At some point a few years later Gateway Released the first working Flashcart at the end of 2014 (Basically just over 1 year ago) the first CFW's started to appear No, Gateway was August 2013 and first non-leaked cfw was may 2015.

Then we got ninjhax in 2015 I think
Wrong again Nov 2014.

Although its 2016 and theres still alot the 3DS is not capable of or Nintendo hasn't given us
We have full control of 3ds on most firmwares and a good portion of it's secret keys. Even the PSP wasn't hacked COMPLETELY.

  • SNES VC Why are you mixing homebrew and commercial scene criticism? Confusing as hell.
  • GBA VC No CFW on eShop for all CFW on eshop, what?
  • BootROM still not dumped How important is this if you have (well really soon) arm9 coldboot from NAND? And we can already dump half of it (good chance someone has already dumped it privately)
  • No NDS games on eShop/CIA Dumps Buy a DS flashcard cheapskate. One comes with Gateway.
  • Region Free SysNAND No Homebrew I guess this is a Nintendo complaint?
The Nintendo DS had all of these (Minus the NDS one and the VC) and was fully cracked wide open by this point in its life
The DS required black market hardware to hack and it was expensive for a good while. The 3ds is piracy-level hackable without any cost or hardware. The DSi was also nowhere near fully hacked during it's lifespan. Nice try.

And it's derpier than my lolcat avatar. Can't see the next one you make from a real keyboard.

  • No CFW on Eshop <--- I shouldve put a comma I meant there isnt any GBA VC on eShop for everyone
  • With ninjhax I said "I think"
  • How is wanting NDS games on the eShop me being a cheapskate
Was responding to /CIA dumps part.

No eshop NDS is an understandable consumer criticism but it's more difficult than you think to migrate NDS cart games to eshop. It's a different platform than dsiware.
