In my tutorial some people say the version string is not patched - e.g. it doesn't say Rei in System settings. But it does for me. What can that be?
(used @Aroth version without the start prompt that he posted some pages before)

Not really link to reiNand but linked to emuNand in a general way...

I would like to fully remove "non-Nintendo" things from my emunand. (things like Activity Log with some non-BigN softwares (FBI for example) or everything that is in the NAND of the system (I want it to be the cleanest as possible lol))
I've got linked nand, the sysnand is running 9.2 and emunand 10.3 obviously.
Is it possible to do what I want to do? ;)

Anyways, this cfw is nice, it boots everytime and I enjoy this. It misses some features but I'll keep it at least for the moment, I want to see the 3.0 final release. :p

My first instinct is to question whether or not they are actually in emunand when they report the Rei string is missing.

Second thought is that it might have something to do with being on a downgraded console and memory offsets being out of whack.

I'm one of those people. Definitely not in sysnand. My sysnand is 9.2, emunand 10.3. I use different themes between the two as well. Rei string is missing for me, but everything works just fine.

I was using Rxtools before, which had the string on 9.5. Switched over to Rei on 9.5, no string, still no string after updating to 10.3.

For what it is worth, European N3DSXL.

No they're def. in EmuNAND. If you select Reinand in CtrBootManager and it boots, you can't be in Sysnand. It would just crash or freeze if there is no Emunand or the Emunand is broken. No way Reinand boots to Sysnand. I also have no explanation but it's merely a cosmetic issue anyway.

Not entirely sure this is possible short of uninstalling all homebrew stuff you have installed and then system formatting the emunand. Not entirely sure why you would want to do this either.

As for missing features, I really want to know what features people are loosing. Every "advertised" emunand feature of rxTools works in Reinand. Their tools that you access through the menu before you load emunand can still be accessed if you have the rxtools files on your sd card still. Region Free has not been a standard feature of any signature patched CFW. The only thing we really lose by moving from a 9.5 limited CFW to this is NTR, and thats because that dev needs to update his closed source software with the new firmware info.

Yeah that's weird. Only thing that comes to mind is it being related to the downgrades.

edit:

@wurstpistole, did you reupload the files I built to your own thread?

If so can you link me to it?

Yeah that's weird. Only thing that comes to mind is it being related to the downgrades.

Yeah downgraded console. It was downgraded via safesysupdater, md5 check passed, and downgrade completed first time with no issues. If rxtools shows a string okay, I guess it's just something on Rei. It really doesn't matter though as everything is working okay.

Salty and self-entitled, me? lol no, you couldn't be further from the truth. Sorry..

If you feel like your opinions/feedback aren't being taken into consideration then just get out of the thread, seriously. Rei was the first to provide EmuNAND on 10.3 and deserves props for that. People like you who disparage developers' hard work is why Team SALT exists and why we can't have nice things.

Plain, unformatted text conveys no tone whatsoever. If I wished to convey a sarcastic or sardonic tone I'd use formatting such as italics to put emphasis on certain words (as I did the first line of my reply to the first post I quoted).

The only entitled person in this thread is you; entitled to make reiNAND as you see fit, and you should continue to do exactly that.

Personally, I think it has been clear from the beginning that reiNAND wasn't a CFW made for the community, but was instead made for yourself and simply shared with the rest of us.

We are fortunate to have a few CFW options available to us. Those who don't like the features reiNAND offers are free to use something else, just as I did.

I started out using reiNAND, and it served me well. But gradually I realised that you didn't give a fuck about feedback from the community, and had no interest in making adjustments to reiNAND based on that feedback (again, because it was obvious it was made for yourself and simply shared with the rest of us), and that's your totally your prerogative.

In the end I switched to a CFW that had the features I was looking for. That's all.

If getting your thread dug up from page 5 and having everyone faun all over you has inspired you to overhaul reiNAND, then that's awesome, and I wish you all the best with it (genuinely). Fierce competition between CFW developers benefits the entire community.
Well do what you feel is best, but i'd rather this thread not derail for drama. Also who said i dont care what the community thinks? i go to work and school full time. It wasnt until recently i was able to even look at the code again.

Not sure what impact this would have, but do me a favor and put the 3dsx version of FBI on your sd card and launch it from sysnand (interrupt the autoboot function of ctrbootmanager with the recovery key set in the boot.cfg file and load HBL from there instead of reinand)

Then check for the following two files and let me know what versions are installed

0004001B0010802
0004009B0010402

To do this, once FBI is loaded, press the L button to change the destination to NAND and the R button to cycle the action to "delete title"

I'm not saying I uploaded them... but I'm also not saying I didn't... but I will link you. :D
lol idc if you did, just want to make sure I am testing the right build(s) to try and isolate the problem

Uh the reiNand.dat file you link to in your tutorial is not not mine nearest I can tell. It does not match the CRC23 of any of my three files.

Gimme a few to pack an archive for each option that you can link in the tutorial

If you're not used to Aussies it's easy to mistake their blunt/abrasive manner for c*ntishness. Trust me, he was just being frank and honest without any underlying tones.

Think I've done this right,

@SkyDX

Apparently the reason my display was glitching out when i tried the stereoscopic splash was because i named the file to "slash.bin"...

If I give it the right name it actually does load the image file, though it only draws the 3D-Left half.

That's what I was expecting tbh. Those files are from 9.5 and 9.6, respectively.

Is that good or bad? Heh. I downgraded from 10.3.

It means you are like every other N3DS user who downgraded. Incomplete downgrade because the 9.2 update package doesnt account for factory installed titles that got updated after 9.2. Since you are able to get into CFW with no issues I wouldn't worry about it for now.

Do you want your reinand to autoboot? With or without the splash screen?

Ah well, if it's the same as everyone else that can't be helped. I used @wurstpistole guide, so it autoboots via cfg configuration. It doesn't seem to have a splash screen but that wouldn't bother me either way - https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...cluding-emunand-coldboot-cia-installer.405589
