Hello guys! Just testing if my SD card works with wii u or not I mean I'm not sure why it wouldnt but at the moment it's not working. I try to save Mii image to the sd card and it says sd card cannot be used.
It is formatted in fat32 and I copied over some backups. Could someone help me please?
This is the sd card

It was formatted with guiformat fat32, so what should I do now?

I'll just be a really dirty person and self advertise here:

Current Features:

  • Format any drive with Fat32
  • Create backups of your savegames
  • Copy/Rename/Manage your WiiU Games.
If you have any questions: Ask away!

Using U_Tility:
  • Add your game folders via the "Add Folder" button. You can use root directories like "C:\WiiuGames", no need to specify each game.
  • Select your FAT32 drive. If it doesn't show up directly hit the "reload" button and wait a little bit, depending on your other drives it can load a little.
  • Select a game and press the "->" button to copy your game.
  • You can doubleclick a game to rename it.

How can I help/contribute?
I'm always open for suggestions. (Especially for the general design / layout)
I still need an Icon for U_Tility, feel free to create one! If I like it I might use it.

Planned features:
  • Auto updates of games. Most of the code is already done (I already checks the current and newest version), just need to get around downloading and extracting the content.
  • It's already ready for loadiine gx (or whatever it'll be called) and just waiting for more details on general structure.
  • ?

Changelog:

I will only document here "major" versions. Minor versions will always be just bugfixes (e.g. x.x.1)

    • 1.0 - Release
    • 1.1.0 - Added auto updater

The wii u supports pretty much any sd card (at least uhs 1, others not at full speed) which is formatted to fat32. (windows just doesn't let you format your card to fat32 if it's over 32gb but also supports it fully). Your vWii on the other hand will most likely run into difficulties using any sd card which is bigger than 2gb.

Now what I would advice you to try out: try to format your card with U_Tility and then copy your backups using the same tool, everything should work fine then.

Mind if I ask which version your wii u is on? And did you follow the definite guide made by @fiveighteen to install loadiine?

You'd need a 2GB SDHC card to install Smash Stack, but once you've done that, you can use any size SD card for homebrew itself.
I use a 4GB microSD card with an SD adapter and it works perfectly :).

Wasn't it that even a sdhc card doesn't work and it needs to be a plain sd card? (not sure myself anymore)

Okay thanks I might try it. I am on 5.4.0 no havent installed loadiine yet.

I know it seems stupid, but make sure the physical lock switch on the card isn't engaged...
