Someone who wants this to work and not brick will read through 200 pages. I have read every page. And you know what? I didn't have to ask for help or whine and it worked and I didn't break anything. Yeah it took a long time, and I learned a lot and I didn't exactly do it so other could take the easy way by whining. Sorry to be harsh but it's irritating. There must be 20 posts saying to go to page 95.
but if they would just update the OP there would not be 20 posts saying to go to page 95
"someone who wants this to work and not brick"'oh well at this pint i dont really give a good shit he was told not to update if it bricks then fuck em he can buy a new one swap the back plates and return it to the store, and i am not reading through all 200 pages because 90% of it is probably useless because nobody ever bothers to update OP's anymore
sorry to be harsh but people do not listen snd there is realy no need of 200 pages every thread on this site runs on forever because nobody ever stops to summarize and give the damn cliff notes in the OP's anymore, that is what gets tiring after awhile

Attempt number 10 resulted in a soft brick while using a freshly formatted SD card with nothing on it but @smealum 's latest starter kit and the OP's sysupdater. Also, the update files were copied with Teracopy. I also removed all DSiWare from the system by copying it to SD. Clearly there is something not involving the SD card going on here. Multiple people report checking the MD5's and repeatedly verifying the update files. It's likely something to do with the N3DS specifically.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Why did people have to be a dick to @JustPingo ?

Ok, seriously, this is a common problem with threads on GBATemp and you have to accept that. No one can read every single page of threads like these. It's not just the sheer number of posts, but the way they ramble around randomly. Requiring someone to read every single post of a > 200 page thread is utterly ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, you did indeed go too far and getting angry and cursing at everyone is definitely not going to solve anything, but his response to read every single post of this already quite long thread is ridiculous. The fact is, threads like these really do need the OP to be edited to reflect new information, to update links, etc etc and this just doesn't happen, so these problems will happen. Frequently. And that's the way it will always be on GBATemp probably, so instead of responding to anger and rudeness with more rudeness and elitism isn't going to help either.

In the end all anyone using this site can do is try to start at the end and work back, but these threads go way out of control way too fast. You can't get frustrated over that since it won't do any good as GBATemp is never going to change (way too late now) but then people have to accept that this is what GBATemp is and not get rude or elitist over anyone who isn't used to this (most sites don't do this you know...)

i think you responded to the wrong post ,but thanks
this would not be half as frustrating it hax 2.5 didn't fail to even work 7 out of 10 times

Just curious. How many of the people here who keep getting soft bricks are trying on North American N3DS systems? @Angelikita You said you succeeded. What region is your 3DS?

Just successfully downgradet my n3DS now, with this method : https://gbatemp.net/threads/what-i-believe-is-the-best-downgrade-process-right-now.408203/

Also one important step is missing in the tutorial that I found out : "There is one important point that is missing in this tutorial and save you alot of time trying to launch sysUpdater without blackscreen or freeze. You HAVE TO ! open the eshop and click you through up to the point, where eshop create some data to your SD. After that, just reboot with L in to menuhax (Homebrewlauncher), run ftBrony, double click B, than start sysUpdater and there you go... first try, every time ! Tried 10 times without the eshop data before and the 3DS got frozen every time."

After that, all worked at first try, no errors after rebooting even with SD card inside.

i am trying to DG a N3ds xl and i notice that in the video systemupdater has a black 3ds icon but in my HBL menu my systemupdater is not the same it hs just questionmark for an icon and it say publisher unknown, in the video it says publisher profi ,is this normal? or do i have the wrong version?

Just use this version : https://gbatemp.net/attachments/sysupdater-zip.34449/ (You can also find it on page 95 of this thread)

so...is a 2ds considered a n3ds... would it be the same files as a n3ds xl

2DS is O3DS except not safe to go down as far as 4.5 (I'm not sure what the lower limit is off the top of my head. I think it's 6 maybe? Below that and the system won't let you get past the 3D calibration on initial setup.)

So you formatted your NAND? I'm not doing that. I'll keep going at least to an even 20 soft bricks and then wait for KTM. It appears JustPingo might still be working on it after all, but it won't come until after Nintendo's "maintenance" on Tuesday, so I'll be taking a risk. But there's no way I'm formatting after 11 soft bricks.

No luck still =/ running a USA n3ds here, still get the stupid titleException error =( This is so frustrating after things going so well and smoothly for the most part with the old 3ds downgrades.

You're still stuck on the title error? I can tell you I've only done the eShop thing once and never had to load homebrew more than 2 or 3 times to get to the actual downgrade part. I'm pretty sure we're all just devolving into superstition at this point.

Yeah, had enough of that softbricks ! Just made a backup of my SD for things like Mii Plaza and also made a backup from all my installed games with "svdt" (Look here : https://gbatemp.net/threads/svdt-save-data-explorer-manager.396562/ )
I don't think it is clever to wait until Nintendo release a new Update / Firmware in 1-2 days, because if you got 1 softbrick, you can only restore to the new version and just stuck there, maybe forever ! JustPingo also said, you better be fast if you want to downgrade, because of this point I mentioned. No one knows, what will come. If you do a backup, like I did, its not a big thing, not much to lose.

Just copying the SD files won't work. They're encrypted and won't work after the reformat. And svdt won't work for me with things like Mii Plaza.

No joke, I honestly have clue why the hell it's tossing this error in sysUpdater. I've tried absolutely everything down to different sd cards, I went forensic mode on all files, did secure transfers etc. Most people I've talked to have said this stupid error is normal and to just keep at it, some of them have done this and the brony spam for hours just to somehow by dumb luck get the updater to initiate the actual installation process. I've been at this step for almost 2 days now, and I've run out of things to attempt on this usa n3ds xl lol

That being said the same methods worked first or second try on both my old 3ds systems.

wow that worked ! i am on 9.2 now on US N3ds xl ,but i have a problem, now oothax and menuhax wont work
so what should i do now?
use browserhax to load HBL again and reinstall oothax and menuhax again?
anything i should know about using the browser, can't it brick or something if i am not on the latest FW? isn't there some trick you are supposed to do now? to make the browser work if you are not on latest FW? or is that for above 9.2 and below 10.3 only?
