This is absurd.
I'd advise most people to just use Julian20's sysUpdater/Libkhax implementation over here and double-check their downgrade package checksums before going ahead with it:

As well as making sure to delete 000400102002CA00.cia if their console is a Japanese N3DS.
Seeing all this desperation and all these bricks caused by shoddy non-guides and general ineptitude is kind of sad.

And replies like this are why devs decide to stop making and releasing things. Don't you think that reply was a bit unnecessary ?
Everyone is always happy to take when devs are giving no matter what it is. But No one is willing to return the favor but instead they just bitch..
Be happy he helped with making sysnupdater more stable. Something good came out in the end and he contributed. Which is more then most of this community(including myself) can say.
Always try to put yourself in his shoes before making arrogant replies like that. It will shine a new light.

Unwritten rule is that developers should stay quiet about something and not overhype something if they're not 100% confident that they actually have something in their hands.
Otherwise, they should be ready to deal with the ensuing influx of irate people.
I'd be inclined to agree with your point if he had actually contributed anything, but at this stage and after the latest commits, sysUpdater is good as gold for downgrading without much of a brick risk, and any new safety features would most likely be superfluous or counterproductive.
As many people have pointed out, it's not the first time JustPingo overhypes something that he doesn't actually have, so...
Whilst that comment IS pretty strongly-worded, it's not all wrong just for that.

I hope you read this JustPingo,

You're such a fuckin idiot man. You had absolutely NOTHING. Tried to hype your shit up and continuously told people not to use other downgraders and wait for yours. Fucking LOL. You dropped the ball with SNShax and anyone who believed your lies with KTM is almost as pathetic as you, ALMOST. Go fuck yourself man but at the same time thanks because this is hilarious. The good guys over at /vg/ are having a fucking blast laughing at how sad you are. I hope you cried man because I cried from laughter. Faggot
I'm not trying to clear pingo's name but... creating an account just to post that kind of rant is making you look twice as childish and butthurt you're trying to picture him.
People like you are the reason some things stay in the shadow.

Yes, N3DS systems have had outstanding results with the newest sysupdater linked in the tutorial (Julian's version).

Very simple:

* optional * backup saves with SVDT
format system
downgrade
Choose emuNAND or not
reinstall games
* optional * import saves from before with SVDT

DONE, and with the optional steps, no save data lost.

With the system format, and the newer sysUpdater, there have been no hardbricks yet (aside from user errors regarding installing o3DS to N3DS updates).
Very stable with 80% success rate, and ~20% softbricks that are easily remedied via the safemode restore and try again.

Please give tutorial/download?

Outside of anything within the Nintendo 3DS folder with your system's ID, yes, everything will be there, but the system format creates a new system ID for you, so basically everything within the "Nintendo 3DS" folder will still be there, but be unuseable by your system since it will now count as a different system, and 3DS cannot read other systems' files.

So in short, all of your Homebrew applications will still be there, yes.

This person will still lose data - formatting will erase their friend code, friend list, streetpass data, activity log, swapnote, possibly more. Digital game saves are not the only thing a person could lose from formatting.

Will Nintendo's update servers be unavailable as soon as maintenance begins? If so, this means the deadline to get everything sorted out for those who held onto false hope is actually Monday afternoon instead of Tuesday, a little less than 48 hours from now.

I truly believe @JustPingo was working on something. It's just you guys are relentless with not giving the poor man a brake. I feel truly sorry for you
Are people leaving him voicemails? Beating on his door? No. It's his choice to come here and twitter and deal with whiney kids instead of doing whatever it is he set out to do. This is just like karl/salt and every other half cocked project announcement with the sole purpose of creating hype and gaining popularity.

Ok so I'm gonna make a final statement about all of this. I didn't read everything because I'm too lazy for that.

First of all, and most importantly: what the heck? My name is JustPingo, and on Twitter I go: "Hey guys I'm making a downgrade app to have downgrade safer, what's your favorite name for it?". And then comes the shitstorm. Really? I can't understand how some of you actually believed KTM would be a ground breaking new thing. Of course it uses more securities, but you could as well implement it yourself in sysUpdater. To be completely honest, I began that project because my C was getting old, wanted to refresh it a bit in my mind.

And then when you begin to be stressed out because a deadline spawns from nowhere, people harassing you about having an ETA so you try to give one that you believe you can try to respect but you obviously won't be able to, not being able do it because other shitty things unrelated, this gets way worse than a simple C application.

This week, I spent all of my free time and parts of my nights trying to solve the problems KTM had, because I didn't want to make people that suddenly built hype around it to be disappointed. The deadline was coming, everything wasn't ready, and this was making me feel so bad I just decided to drop it.

I don't really care about what's coming next. If you feel like shouting out loud how dumb I am, then go ahead, I won't read anyway.

I'm still going to do things on my own, I'm still gonna say thing on Twitter. I enjoy making things, what I hate is pressure. I'm not gonna try to release anything now, so even if I say something, GBAtemp won't instantly ignite. Won't change much to you anyway.

What still makes me laugh is that some people are still taking seriously the hidden kernel exploit thing. Obviously this was a very dumb mistake coming from a too quick read of some code. That's it. They're not gonna hide kernel exploits there, they keep them in their own private folders. Nothing wrong with this btw.

My last tip to anyone making anything : don't release anything for free. It'll save you a lot of trouble.

So I guess that's it. I'm probably not gonna answer much about this now. Have a good life. And I still love every one of you. Mostly.

Don't read the pressure inducing posts just like you said you wouldn't read this one. Or keep your projects private until you feel it's ready for a release. Btw, I think nintendo set your deadline by making the app pointless after Tuesday. But don't blame a bunch if stupid kids for you not being able to handle notoriety. Its sad. You set everyone's expectations.

I enjoy making things,

My last tip to anyone making anything : don't release anything for free. It'll save you a lot of trouble.

Uh.

EDIT:
To add onto my statement, I disagree wholeheartedly with this sort of mindset.
Making things out of passion IS a thing, of course, but saying that releasing things to the public because 'the public is awful' AKA overreacting to getting called out is a pretty lopsided mindset to have.
Sure, the "hidden kernel exploit" fiasco may have been a fluke, but overhyping something without thorough research and development is still a foolish thing to do.
It's fine to tell people to prepare for a potential something in advance, but hyping something up like it's just about to become a finished, usable product is not okay.

What I don't understand is what was so hard. From what you've said, it was just supposed to check file integrity before running sysupdater.

Presumably the headers of .ttp's have the hash the file should have, so hash the file with md5 or whatever, match the result with the hash in the header, if they match unzip and run the rest of sysupdater. You could get that out in an afternoon, maybe take another day to make sure no C fuckery happened.
