Hacking R4 i SDHC Dual-Core question.

Hey, 2 days ago i got a 3ds with this R4 but i have a question.
The current version of 3DS is 4.5.0-8E.
So can i update the system or not?
Actually i am planning to buy a gateway or sky3ds soon, so can you tell me your opinion? thanks!

Why do you want to update? just install rxtools and update your emunand. You dont need a gateway cart

You know, i didn't have a 3ds before so i don't know almost nothing about it yet. So if you can explain to me i would really appreciate that.
