I just installed rxTools today and unlinked my nands and updated emuNand to 10.3. I now have an O3DS with Sysnand 9.2 and Emunand 10.3. (rxTools) What are the steps in installing INJECTED gba vc titles? I have read that they need to be installed onto both sysnand and emunand, but I have read in the past that installing unclean or unsigned cias can brick my sysnand. What do I do to install these injected vc titles?

Yes they need to be installed both to sysnand an emunand to be played in emunand, the proccess goes like this:

Boot rxTools in sysnand > Open FBI > Install to SD. (Playable in sysnand only).

Boot rxTools in emunand > Open FBI > Install to SD. (Playable both in emunand and sysnand).

So this is safe to do with an injected rom VC title? (For instance, The Legend Of Zelda A Link to the Past injected into a vc title) Wouldn't this brick my sysnand because it isn't signed?

It won't brick your system just because it isn't signed.

A non signed cia will just fail run in your regular sysnand if you try to run it without a CFW, you would need to be in a CFW to run it.

I have lots of non signed gba cias and they work just fine.

I did the above steps and tried 3 VC titles. On sysnand they appear for a second then dissapear, while in emunand they appear with their icon but I get "An error has occured. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off." However, I am unsure if the cias I installed match my region. What am I doing incorrectly?

Is normal for unsigned cias to dissapear from sysnand if you aren't in a CFW.

Try booting whatever CFW you use in sysnand and run them, tell me if they work.

2 of them dissapeared when running the CFW in sysnand (They were the ones I think were in the EUR region), the other one (Fire Emblem Sacred Stones) appeared, but just like before in emunand, it gave an error on opening.

Are you %100 sure you followed my instructions as described above? Ex: Install to SD and NOT NAND.

What CFW are you using?

Also, can someone confirm you that the cias you used are functional?

Ahhh, that'd explain it. I accidentally installed it to NAND. I should uninstall the cias with FBI then try again right?

Yes, I clearly said that they need to be installed to SD above:

Yes they need to be installed both to sysnand an emunand to be played in emunand, the proccess goes like this:

Boot rxTools in sysnand > Open FBI > Install to SD. (Playable in sysnand only).

Can you run injected GBA VCs in emuNAND?
Yes, read that quote too.

How do I know which title to uninstall in FBI?

Look up the title of the cia you installed then use FBI to delete it.

I don't know the titles of the games you installed so I can't tell you which ones they are, you can try asking wherever you got them from.

Sorry about that. Thanks.
No probs ;)

I know that this is what we have to do to make this work in EmuNand, but why do we have to do this? Like what changes and enables it to work by installing it in unlinked SysNand?

I couldn't seem to find the title IDs in either NAND or SD card for FBI, so I didn't uninstall them from NAND, but I installed to SD (this time both while in sys and emunand) and it seems to work.

As far as I understand:

GBA and DSiware have their own firms, when you boot into those games the system leave the 3DS mode, and re-boots into this firms.

If your system has the nands unlinked, after the system reboot the games are no longer found when it looks for them in sysnand causing it to return in an error message.

So you need them installed in sysnand so it can find the content in there.

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii

RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced

    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
ngl i feel like if a bunch of my friends have wiis and know how to get wiimmfi and back up their NAND, then we could do a PMEX Remix tournament

maybe even add UMVC3/DBFZ and make it a biathlon/triathlon
