damn the themehax started working again after a couple of tries . i guess my 3ds got tired of getting restarted again and again.

Also, you might want to mention in the OP that depending on the CIA it can take a while.

For example, it took me from 15-20 minutes to install Alpha Sapphire

Looks like it only works on N3DS 9.3/9.4/9.5 ....

It worked for me on 10.3 (O3DS)

Has anyone tried with the old version of Ironhax? I have ironhax2.0 or 2.1 and never updated it, would it work? Or should I just update the hax?

I'm using the oldest version as well but it doesn't work. Try installing menuhax.

Just look at the size of the cia, that gives you already some idea for the time.

did you restart 15 times or you just pressed start after "Install failed!" for retry without restart?
