With Hykem's upcoming IOSU exploit, would it be possible for a version of Nintendont that launches natively on the Wii U(as opposed to launching in vWii mode)as well as running in high definition with higher framerates?

Yes, it is possible to do, i don't know if in this case using the Webkit + kernel + IOSU exploit, but talking about if the hardware is capable, yes.
However, it won't be easy...

Edit: Now that I think it better, it should be possible with IOSU :P .

Sure, have fun porting it. I can't wait to see it completed in a year or so after you start. :grog:

In all seriousness, it will take a lot more work than you probably think it will. I think it will be a while before anyone pops up that really wants a higher resolution bad enough to put in that much work. It's just easier and fine for most to just boot into vWii.

Anyone who wants to work with me, I guess...? I have no coding knowledge, but I'm willing to help out with anything that the master coder behind this feels necessary.

While I can't truly say, my belief is that it won't be as easy or even as possible as people think it will be. Based on my understanding (granted, it's not a whole lot, I'm more 3/DS-oriented), the reason why Nintendont works well under Wii mode and on a Wii itself is because of how close the Wii environment matches with the GC. Remember, the Wii U utilizes actual Wii hardware under the hood to run Wii mode, and that hardware is set to Wii specifications. The Wii U hardware like the GPU are quite different. In all honesty, if the Wii U hardware were just an advancement to the Wii hardware and Wii games ran off of that, then having the separate Wii hardware would be quite redundant, and Wii mode would have already been able to do things such as 1080p without a hitch by Nintendo.

@DiscostewSM- Thanks for your clean response as to why this would be unnecessary. I appreciate people like you who actually take their time to frame kind responses.
@EmceeKerser and @Net-KILLER- You guys have absolutely no reason to start getting snarky. I'm relatively new to GBATemp and you guys are just giving me a bad impresssion of the place. I just wanted a simple answer to my question. And by we, I mean the GBATemp community.

We get these kinds of threads daily, its tiring seeing all these threads with people coming up with 'new' ideas when new exploits roll around, but cannot materially contribute to said ideas
Its particularly bad in the 3ds section

Wouldn't it be the same as running the game through a Wii with component cables? Vast majority of GC games are in 480p anyways so HDMI or component will make no difference as far as I understand. If you want graphical improvements you'll have to use emulators not Nintendont.

It would be the same as running in vwii mode through HDMI. I think OP thinks the wii u is capable of upscaling or AA or something like that

You guyes have no idea what your talking about.

Framerates are already possible with nintendont, do you guys remneber some games even ran at 2x speed? The reason the games dont pass their FPS limitations is becuase the game code has a lock and to unlock the fps you would need to analise each game and hack their frame limiter, also frame unlocking breakes alot of games like in sunshine if you use the hack to unlock to 60FPS the game portals will mess up and other stuff, depending how a game is coded frame lock might be impossible or brake the game, and you cant just make a general frame unlock code you would need to search each games and check their functions and such so it wont happen becuase each game uses diferent functions and adresses who makes it impossible to make a general code, you would need to make a one per game unlock code and check if nothing is broken.

Resolution- the only way nintendont even works is becuase nintendont is semi native wich means we dont emulate graphics at all since both wii(and vwii) and gc use GX to generate gfx, the wiiu mode has GX2 wich means its mainly undocomented and nintendont would need to emulate graphics for the gamecube or find a way to turn GX2 into gx wich might or not even be possible, no one will start porting a GC graphic engine without a documented GX2 to even see if its possible..

So yeah dont get your hopes up of nintendont to be in wiiu mode any time soon, we are more likley with iosu unlocked to get the gamepad working on vwiii mode more than anything else but that might be about it until someone fully documents gx2 and we can see if its possible or not in the first place.
