No it is not, look back at GW's downgrade and what happen with certain asian n3ds consoles.

GW worked fine on 8.1 n3DS's its just that the CFW dev's didnt know how to copy gateway properly to support n3DS consoles on 8.1, the only time people should update is if
A) the firmware they are updating to has already released exploits
B) a (reputable) dev explicitly says that a upcoming exploit REQUIRES said FW
C) they dont give a s**t about exploits and wont start making threads "why me no hav hax FUUUU dev's"
D) they want to aimlessly look on the eshop despite the fact the have no intention of buying anything (idk why this is the case, but it seems to be the #1 reason ahy people update only to sit there crying later down the line coz they want da r0mz)

why not download the sys update for 10.3 and keep it handy for when the time comes.

Yeah, just use emunand and update it to 10.3.

Once your on 9.2, you can then use emuNAND which can be updated to latest firmware.
the lower firmware you stay, the more exploits you have to hand.

Okay. I'm just so confused right now because people like you are saying "Don't update." then there are the others who say it's okay to update because of the new hax exploits.
