There were even a steam community about it. It was full of soon(tm)'s, just around the corner(tm)'s, countdowns and hype all over the place.
These images shows the hype :D

lol i had a gallery up on my website about this time last year with a ton of pics about the wait for GW. Those were good times, all the haters saying GW was lying and not going to release a update for N3DS. Glad i have things running now :P

Question for you guys, I've got a 9.9 n3DS and I'll have my Sky3DS+ soon. Obviously, I'm interested in homebrew (I had a 9.2 o3DS), I've got Ironhax, Menuhax, OOThax. Should I keep my n3DS in 9.9 or update it in 10.3 to update games?

I saw people talking about an exploit that was patched in 10.2, that is why I'm asking you! :D
With two exploits coming out its personal preference in what you want to do at this point one doesn't have any advantage but with both options available you can obviously choose the better of the two but if you want to get the new smash update or play games then go ahead if you want to do so

Why would you need HANS anymore? With Kernel you can just create a CIA with the Smash Mods on them
Because modding and loading a RomFS is much faster and easier than rebuilding and reinstalling a cia.
What you should be doing is using the KExploit to dump and decrypt your game updates to merge with the RomFS you get from braindump or whatever.

But with the ease of HANS also comes a downside with the N3ds you won't be able to use the zl zr or c stick on N3ds but with CIA its a pain to rebuild so its all just preference in what you feel is better... I thought it has already been stated that you can't install game updates through HANS

to rebuild romfs as wel any way with hans with cias you don't have to have the cart in or even own it if your a pirate

Query rolling in my mind, what type of entry point would be used?

Will it start using homebrew or a game would be required?

Yea, it is mainly about updating games, I think I'll wait a bit and then I'll see!
Thank you for your help. :)

You can use the update data with Hans if you merge and replace the base game's RomFS with the update's RomFS and use the update's code.bin in place of the base game's. The other issues could be fixed if anyone wanted to continue working on Hans now that the source code is released.

you have to rebuild romfs as well anyways with hans. with cias you don't have to have the cart in or even own it if your a pirate
Yes, but you only have to rebuild the RomFS for Hans. For cias, you have to rebuild the RomFS, then rebuild the Cia, then completely reinstall the cia onto your 3DS. Which is fine if you are only going to do it once like for Pokemon XY/ORAS mods. But with other mods like smash or music mods, you will probably be tweaking things a lot, which would be a complete pain with cias, but pretty fast and simple with hans.

Also, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to use Hans to mod a cia you pirated, so that's always an option too. You could have a modded or vanilla cia and use Hans to make edits and tweaks before committing the edits to a new cia. That's what I will be doing.

Has none listned to me? I'm pretty sure there is a way to run mods without packing any files and with only the modified files in a folder sort of riivolution by using some kind of plugin

That's the first I've heard of this. Do you have a link? I would love to install it as soon as the KExploit releases.

At least I think there is like I stated in an earlyer post as in this video someone is copying a Mario Kart Course to the SD card and ejecting it without compiling a .cia then he is shown playing his modified file
