Hi everyone. I'm running CFW with rxTools on emunand and it works great. I have a question though. I'm about to give this to my 7 year old daughter, and I don't want her to have to use the website hack every time she turns it off. Could I inject FBI directly to the sysnand so when it boots up I can install .CIA's that way? I see in RXTools that there is a "Launch rxmode in Sysnand" instead of emunand. I haven't even messed with yet but it seems like if you can write to the Sysnand you could just have it fire up that way every time once FBI or bigbluemenu and still be able to install .cia's.

yea, but you can use cold boot instead of using the browser everytime.

Thank you. I'm using a 2ds so I used the 2nd guide. I'm running into a problem upgrading my sysnand to 9.2 though.

The guide directs me to download sysupdater and run the .cia to install it as a gift. Then you can run it on either sysnand or emunand and it will upgrade/downgrade whichever version you're in at that time. This works fine, however when I'm in sysnand I cannot open any .cia packages.

Even if I load rxtools and select "run rxtools in sysnand" I still do not have the ability to install or play any game installed (although I can see them, presumably because the sys and emunand are linked).

The guide states the following to get into "DEVMODE" so that running the gifts in sysnand is possible, but the options do not work for me. I'm launching rxtools using the browser to go to http://launch.rtxtools.net

  1. Download Sysupdater
  2. Open the archive and put sysUpdater.cia on your SD card
  3. Insert your SD card in your 3DS
  4. Hold L while launching rxTools to get into the rxTools menu
  5. Press DPAD RIGHT until you highlight ADVANCED OPTIONS, then press A
  6. Go down to DEVMODE and press A
  7. After a few seconds, you should now be in sysnand; firmware spoofing is disabled but cias can still be launched in this mode.

Your nands are linked yeah?
And did you install the .cias to emunand?

If that is the case then maybe you can't run them from sysnand even in rxmode or devmode because they weren't actually properly installed in sysnand, the data for them exists in the SD card folder that sysnand reads from, it exists in the title.db and import.db, but it wasn't actually registered in nand that they were installed (there are files inside nand that keep track of what's been installed and what hasn't been installed, I believe.)

That -might- be why they aren't running in sysnand. Try actually installing the .cia in sysnand and see if it runs.

Also please don't use rxMode sysnand to run sysupdater. Only use rxTools devmode/pasta mode, or pastacfw without firmlaunch.
The reason why firmlaunch is a problem is because it will load a higher version of NATIVE_FIRM on the fly when you run the cfw. What happens is, if you update while firmlaunch is enabled, NATIVE_FIRM won't be updated because it thinks a higher version of it is already installed. This results in a brick because you need the right NATIVE_FIRM with the right system titles.

Man I've got a lot to learn lol. I just got my DS last week and have never messed around with one before that.

So right now I'm looking into installing the nightly build of rxtools. I have it downloaded but the instructions are throwing me off since the very 2nd step says "Copy rxTools.dat, firmware.bin, slot0x25key.x.bin and the rxtools folder to the SD card" and none of those files seem to be in the download folder.

Since I've already got the stable rxTools version on my SD, can I just copy the rxtools folder over?
