My problem is that I am thinking of getting either Sky3ds(+) or gateway in order to play a rom on my 3ds. However, It is a Japanese game and I want to use a patch I found on the forum to convert it to english (https://gbatemp.net/threads/wip-mhx-translation-patch-eng.403613/). Is there a way to do this to a .3ds file or should I give up my dreams of using a flashcart?

Thanks!!

You can use NTR-CFW in conjunction with Gateway or Sky (if you are on 9.2 or below), you can patch the ROM directly in the case of Gateway, and you can also use HANS (works on any firmware 9.0 and up)
But if you are on 9.2 or below there's absolutely no reason to get a Sky3DS. Gateway and CFW are both much better alternatives.
