It's like with the Cturt PS4 "jailbreak" exploit having people's hopes up to the point of them even buying expensive old bundles on Amazon in preparation. Then, all of a sudden, he posts an Anti-Piracy screed on his blog and denying he's going to release anything piracy related. effing lol.

In that case, it would also be possible to downgrade parts of the console as we saw fit to create the ideal exploitable environment to boot from. For starters, as I'm sure Hykem won't have time to make a stable webkit exploit for 5.4/5.5, it should be easy enough to just downgrade the browser using an unstable exploit for the time being, or permanently, depending on the necessity of a stable new webkit exploit I guess. Of course, it would also be possible to go back to 5.0.0 and use the "easier" IOSU exploit as well, depending on if that gets released or not. Lots of options here for sure. Anyway, having the best booting environment should be a priority to achieve after the release of an emunand tool, so not an immediate one by any means. Still, there might be exploits in older versions of the quickboot menu that can be used for boot-time code injection, so it's probably worth looking into anyway.

Yeah but I'm sure everyone will be more focused towards emuNAND so sysNAND firmware won't really be an issue after 5.5 anymore, much like 3DS. So a downgrader for stability could be a thing...

So I have a Wii U stuck on 4.0.0 should i update to 5.3.2 to use loadline or just wait for this IOSU exploit? I mainly bought this secondhand Wii to be the "hackable" wii so I'm not sure what to do now since this new exploit might be available soon

Just wait until the exploit is released.. Then that should determine what to update to, if you even have to..

Update to 4.1.0 using a game, and enjoy Loadiine right now as you wait. Or wait 5 days to see if IOSU becomes possible.

- I have successfully compromised the Wii U's IOSU;
- The exploit being used works from 2.0.0 up to5.5.0, but it obviously needs to be ported for each firmware;
- The exploit doesn't need PPC kernel access, so the new kernel exploit won't have to be released.

I want to do some kind of Christmas surprise yes, but take that with a grain of salt. I can't promise I will have the time to get everything ready by then and I'm not disclosing what will be released.
Keep in mind that releasing the exploit "as-is" is pointless, so it will have to be ported first and most likely obfuscated so it will take a little longer to patch. It's also worth noting that I will have to develop an easy way to block updates so no one updates past 5.5.0 by accident.

If you don't believe in anything stated above, that's not my problem. The best (and easiest) thing to do is wait and see.

This is awesome news, I personally cannot wait till these exploits are ready to be released and nintendo moves onto the next patches, I am very keen to play some Wii U backups
