I recently bought a Wii for the sole purpose of playing the games from my childhood. I bought two classic controllers however they are not nostalgic to me, I also think they may be counterfeit as they are unbranded. What are some options for Wii compatible SNES gamepads? Are the TTX SNES gamepads any good?

- Thanks, in advance

Which version of the wii do you have? Is it one that has gc controller and memory card ports?

If you want the controllers to feel as original as possible then there are two options. First one is to buy one of the Club Nintendo SNES classic controllers which are essentially SNES controllers that are Wii compatible. They are costly however. Here's one for a good price. The second option is to buy a SNES to classic controller adapter. Raphnet makes some pretty good ones.

Yes, mine has Gamecube compatibility.

Yeah, they're very outrageous for those. I was reading up on them. I'm fine with 3rd party brands, as long as they are functional. The chinese ones I received do not work well. You have to mash the D-Pad in order to get it to get your person to move.

This: http://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-NES-SNES-Controller-Adapter/dp/B00B2K0C8M

I have a pair of these adapters, works very good with my official snes controllers. I even mod a Snes console case and re-wire the plugs from the adapter directly to the original snes control ports, but that's was just for fun. These adapters have less lag than any other adapter connected on the wiimote. By playing Super Mario World or any other intensive reaction game it's easy to notice the difference.

Do like zerofalcon says: Buy one of these adapters (mayflash, raphnet, brunofreitas.com, etc): Do you research and pick one. Some can notice lag, some says that no lag at all. The official snes controller is irreplaceable. The d-pad of the wii classic controller is kind of hard: you cant down to forward and punch without hurt your fingers. The official controller is so perfect that I think never will exist a d-pad to play 2d games as good as it was in the snes controller.

I'm going to go with cvskid's line... Gamecube controller if you have a Wii that has the ports. As a bonus there are many Wii games that also support it plus you'd already have the perfect controller for GC games, too.

I think this is what I'm going to do. I appreciate your input.

Yeah, I have two Gamecube controllers, but it's kind of wonky playing SNES games with them because the buttons are so far apart.

Thank you all for your input!

Yeah, that's true. The original classic controller is good for NES/SNES games except it's kinda small for my hands and the shape of it makes it hard to hold on to. :P I have a CC Pro but I hardly ever use it.

Thing is , the videos work fine in the Edge Dev and Canary builds. But whatever the fix they made was, has never been pushed to Beta or Stable builds. Its been that way for as far back as I tested. Which was Edge 84. They are on 125 now.

@RedColoredStars, Yeah, and I was in quite a mood at that time. I would consider choosing Firefox or Opera instead, been using Firefox for over 7 years now than Chrome.
  • RedColoredStars @ RedColoredStars:
Tried contacting Nintendo to see if they can reach out to MS about it. But Nintendo said the videos are working fine. Without enough people saying no, they don't work fine, it will never get fixed.

I have Firefox and used it for many years. But Edge runs noticible faster on my pc at both opening and loading pages.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
I don't think Nintendo will know anything about troubleshooting Edge. They mostly do technical support regarding their console family.

    Good one, Ken.

Right. But they could create a ticket that gets forwarded to the proper team. I think Nintendo would care that their videos aren't working on a major browser
