Hacking gateway to hell

So what present age of chance is there that I'll brick my 3ds now that we have found out they are bricking cards again?
Will using a custom header/region free fix increase the chance of bricking?
Why did I have to find out about this just after I ordered it

Did you order a DSTWO+ if not you have nothing to worry about

Nope but I read you can't use the region fee fix because it has a high chance of triggering the brick?
And will using CFW trigger the brick? Cos that's how I'm going to use cubic ninja iv already got the CIA for it

I never understood what caused the brick , if you used another flashcard than Gateway they brick your console ?

Basically clones of gateway were just stealing their launcher.dat so gateway, after warning consumers to only use the launcher.dat with a legitimate gateway card, put some code in their launcher that would check if your using a gateway card or not. If you're not then it attempts to brick your system. Totally understandable, consumers should do some basic research (especially when working with system hacks of any kind) and flash cart manufacturers should grow a pair and actually work on their own system rather than ripping gateways years of work.

If you're using a CFW, it's not a problem

If you're using the actual gateway card, it's not a problem

If you're using a gateway clone, it's a problem

Also, despite what some users might say on here, asking questions is never a bad thing, especially when multiple people are saying different things

Gateway has been region free for a long time, there's no point in using the region free fix anymore. But yes, editing the gateway launcher in any way will cause a brick.

Gateway has been region free for a long time, there's no point in using the region free fix anymore. But yes, editing the gateway launcher in a very particular and specific way will cause a brick.

Fixed that for you. Randomly changing the Launcher will not cause a brick. Try it!

sorry im new as fuck man just ordered my gateway today, so is there much that edits the gateway launcher? or any CFW that you recommend? I would like one to install my cia of cubic ninja so i can install my gateway card, also i have a n3ds if that helps

also if this is going to get derailed ill put my 2 cents in, yes its wrong as fuck that gateway is doing this but they have a right to protect what they worked on but not to go as far to brick and essentially destroy peoples consoles because other developers are hacks

If you're planning on using gateway on an N3DS, as far as I know (I haven't followed recent developments much), the best way is to downgrade your mset so you can launch gateway via system settings.

As for how to do that without a copy of OOT/CN, I can't be of much help there since I used an actual copy of CN but this guide looks somewhat relevant.

Anyway back off-topic. If someone wants to start hacking systems, they should at least start to obtain a basic understanding before they do so. At the very least they should research their options rather than blindly buying something. So ya the fault lies with the people who refuse to inform themselves and with the people who rip off gateway.

thats why i was making a reference saying "insert here" because i was not putting an effort on it..
i was just making a joke about how the "community" usually reacts like if they were KKK to people that agrees with gatebricks.. (or when they want free hax)
