Hi guys! My friend just bought an brand new Wii U Deluxe 32 GB with Mario 3D world and Nintendoland. But his console serial and the box serial doesn't match. Are they suppose to match?
And the Nintendoland was not sealed. All this is kinda strange... It was told us that the Gamepad has his own serial, but we really need to know about the console and box serial if they need to match. Hope you guys can help to solve this question!

get a refund or exchange immediately. You were a victim of console swapping and there probably are issues with the console.

Funny thing is that it came with 2.X firmware, on a Refurb it shoud be upgrated right?

Did he buy it knowing it was a refurbished unit or is that the conclusion you came too? Sounds like Someone swapped their console out and took it back lol

Return it ASAP and repurchase from a more reputable retailer. It's likely a scam of some kind. Who knows what other issues there might be with that system?

considering it boots up, I would be willing to bet that it probably has issues with the gamepad connection, either range or connection stability problems.

Another issue could be that it has problems reading either Wii games (DVD) or Wii U Games (Blu-ray) as a different laser is used for Blu-ray and DVD reading.
