As you have probably guessed im a complete noob. The wiibrew.net website does not explain how to use the hack WITHOUT the smash bro game. Can someone kindly explain how to do this please?

Since you admit you're a complete noob here are the key points

-First ensure you are on firmware 5.3.2 (Anything else won't work for the moment);
-Block nintendo update servers using OpenDNS, Tubehax, or your router filtering (search the forum);
-Extract your wii u game to your SD card using DiscU or Uwizard (you'll need the common key and the title key. again search the forum);
-Launch wiiu browser, go to http://eclipsesin.github.io/. First launch "Loadiine Kernel", and then launch "Loadiine vLatest";
-You will be prompted to install loadiine, and then you get to choose your game to play.

It's a bit tedious. You have to read this thread carefully in order to understand what you are doing:

The DefinitivePackage download has included 3.0 since it was released (or relatively soon after), but I have now also updated the individual Loadiine section to include the proper download links and instructions specifically for 3.0. Let me know if something isn't clear.
