In the time you started that thread you could easily tested the game out and see if you can get used to the style.

And it is a Zelda game. No one gets killed or something. Nothing to be afraid of. Oh, wait..

It's my favorite Zelda game so yes. Definitely. For whatever reason a lot of people didn't like it but I really enjoyed. There might be bias though considering it was my first 3D zelda. You may or may not like it, but I definitely recommend it. Although I don't know about dark and realistic. It is dark in the way it presents itself, and I guess the art-style is realistic, but the story is not dark and realistic.

Well, I would have to order the game from eBay and wait 2-4 weeks for it to come in, or download a 1.3 GB iso which would take about an hour to download on my potato computer, so it is faster to make this thread.

Well, if the story isn't dark, then I might as well try it. Thanks!

Oh. I thought you had it already or something like that.

I think you should try it out. The better question would be on which console.

Well, the Gamecube one is easier to pirate, so I might as well get that one. Is there any difference between the GCN and Wii versions?

It's mirrored as far as I know. And the Wii version has motion controls for swinging your sword and aiming with the bow or the clawshot.

I've only played the wii version so I dont know. They are mirrored though, which is why I'm not too keen on trying the GC version. It would trip me out.

I like Wind Waker's art style a lot more (because it didn't try to push the realistic graphics capabilities of a non-powerful system) but I realize that's just a personal preference and people will go 50/50 with this aspect of the game. Twilight Princess' story is surely more advanced, if you like that.

My main issue with Twilight Princess is how long the game took to find its groove. Following the traditional Zelda pattern the game includes 3 early game dungeons, a mid-game cutscene, and then more (better) late-game dungeons. The game's intro section is embarrassingly long and boring, taking about 4 hours before you can get into the first dungeon. And these first three dungeons are not particularly fun or creative, and have shoehorned monotonous collection quests in between them. But once you get to the mid-game cutscene, the game really picks up, greatly expanding on the already wonderful story and throwing some creative and original dungeons and items your way.

My opinion is that if you're okay trudging through the mildly boring first half of the game then it's worth a play. If you finish the game I'd imagine you'd feel satisfied with your time spent playing it.

How old are you anyway?

For your question: Link holds his sword in most of the games in the left hand - but most people are right-handed. So Nintendo decided to mirror the game.
I'm turning 15 next month, but I am very "sensitive." Sometimes even WindWaker scares me.
And oh, now that makes sense why they mirrored it.

It's totally okay to be sensitive. And even I'm scared of the black hands that grab you into their hole in Wind Waker.

Twilight Princess starts in a little and sweet village as I remember it. It's gets a bit darker after that, but not for too long. If you don't feel well at some point, just take a break. Or turn the volume down to zero and play some nice music.

Have courage my friend! You can't be Link without that, right?

Okay. I will do it. But first, I am going to replay Ocarina of Time, to get out of my child happiness WindWaker mood, lol.

Ocarina of Time was way scarier. Even Majora's Mask was spookier with Ikana Canyon and the like.
Twilight Princess is just dark.

It's a LoZ game. If you like LoZ, play it.

Twilight Princess is a great game and I enjoyed it a lot. I can somewhat understand why people complain about it trying to be dark and edgy, though, emphasis on tried.

That was going to be my question towards you- whether or not you liked Ocarina of Time.

Because Twilight Princess is like a big dollop of Ocarina of Time sauce dropped right onto the taco that is the Zelda timeline. Just about everything in the game screams "I am a game that was directly directed by Ocarina of Time!"
One thing though- just do yourself a favor and play the GameCube version. The Wii version does several things that are just stupid. The most obvious one of course is that they "flipped" the entire game world itself "to fit" a right-hander's sword wielding arm. Why they did that, I have no idea, but seeing all the old OOT landmarks in the wrong spot is just unsettling. On the GameCube version they're right where they should be.
Nintendo also shoehorned in really, really poorly done motion controls on the Wii version, and they're just... awful. They had a really bad habit on the Wii, even with "traditional" games like Donkey Kong Country returns, of taking what should be a simple button press and forcing the player to waggle around like an idiot for no good reason, and that never, ever worked out well. With the GameCube version you get none of those shenanigans.

Bear in mind that this game suffers from Neo-Nintendo forced handholding syndrome. Practically the entire time you're pretty much stuck on a path in a complete opposite gameplay style than was typical of Zeldas. So get used to quite a bit of point-a-to-point-b traversement. It's not nearly as bad or awful or aggravating or stupid as Skyward Sword, but it's still a problem inherent to Nintendo's titles, and it's here.
