TO START FROM THE BEGINNING
What do I need to compile RetroArch and the Cores?
Which programs I need to install?
Which files do I need to download and where should I place them?

Much obliged for the help, Azel!
No prob^^

as for new ram related stuff, well on new3DS, cia, street fighter zero3 was already working so(oct4th build)... can somebody point me to the biggest cps2 rom, to test ?
@aliaspider : when the rotation was set on normal, Dimahoo was mirrored though but I guess this is normal behavior for now, the game just wanted to be displayed vertically by default, I guess)

just tried KOF97 and Metal Slug X on the newest neo geo build (cia new3ds), and neither are working. (KOF96 and metal slug 2 are still working fine)
what other rom should I try ?

Last edited by Azel,
That may be the biggest, although Vampire Savior and Marvel vs. Capcom aren't far behind. I think Capcom was having trouble making their games fit into the CPS2 hardware, which is why Vampire Savior got chunked up into two games and why a later arcade version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 with the full character roster was released on Naomi (aka Dreamcast) hardware.

For what it's worth, Marvel vs. Capcom really does work well! I just wish there were more buttons... or I had more fingers. Or there were 3x Punch and 3x Kick settings.

Have you tried them with .3dsx builds?
They don't seem to work for me. Merci

I think it's Vampire Savior 2.

The largest game I could load in FBA Neo Geo was Samurai Showdown 4 @ 21.6MB. We should have way more compatibility when Ninjhax 2.5 is released.

You don't really need to compile the cores to be honest, nightly builds are usually enough for most people.

If you do want to compile them yourself, I'm not quite sure - I haven't messed around with that side of 3DS homebrew before. I'm sure someone here will be happy to help you though. In lieu of that, I have a feeling someone asked the same question a few pages back - maybe the answer is already there?

Core compilation isn't really worth bothering with.

You just want to get the builds directly from the buildbot, most likely.

If you're doing active development, the only thing I can remember is that each core is compiled separately, and then the output is placed into another folder and a script is run from there.

Don't waste your breath. They're just gonna tell you to google it yourself.

You poor thing.

...I think it was him that asked
Like you and others have said, what's the point in compiling anyway? If it's something so specific, a better bet would be to ask over on the actual libretro forums, this is better for issues etc with the builds themselves.

Yea, I googled it already... Without the results I wanted.

I need to compile the Cores to compile Retroarch itself.
If I want to run a modified version of CatSFC (autoboot a specific rom or something) I need to rebuild the Core and RetroArch itself :/
Yea, I was the guy who asked for help a few pages back.
But no one helped me with the other problem I had.

You should ask in either the IRC or over on the actual Retroarch forums.

Does anyone have an actual changelog, by the way? I haven't checked in a bit, but the ones that were packaged with daily builds were garbled.

Sorry I didn't get the 3dsx builds today since they're separated now.

did you get any roms cps/neo to start ? (small ones) (if not you have the wrong romset)

also, I gotta admit, a tutorial to build an autoboot RetroArch with one rom could be pretty cool for those of us with retrogaming toddlers ^^ (I know my nephew would be all over that if he had a 3DS)

Last edited by Azel,
I just traded in all the old stuff I was selling in the trade area at a local game shop and picked up a 3DS XL that was on 4.5 FW! I also got a gateway for a modded PS2! Gonna see how these run now :D

cool :)
But why a gateway. cfw can do all what gateway can and more. But still a nice move if you don't need your ps2.
