How can I set each emulator to its own correct rom folder? When I set the directory, it gets set for all emulators, not just the one. Also, why is it that when I try to boot more than two games in a single session, the emulator kicks me back to the home menu?

Retroarch is usually a collection of the different emulators (cores) on most other systems (and in those cases has both main configs and per-core ones), but on 3DS it's split, so each 'different emulator' in this case is likely just reading from the same config. Plus it's early days yet. Better to just leave the directory at root or something, at least for now.

As for your other question, is that really a major issue? If the emulator was spitting out tiny little demon-oh wait, wrong thread! :tpi: Seriously though it's not the end of the world, one of the reasons could be memory leaks (or the crash could be a sort of failsafe from memory leaks to avoid corruptions, would have to ask the devs about that). Again of course, early days... Just exit after a couple of games and boot it back up man....:P

You really should add this to the FAQ:
Where do I have to put the bios for gpsp?

Edit: got it

Well it's not the early days for the Wii version, and I still can't set overlays and screen size per emulator on there. I just figured I had something set wrong. There needs to be a "Complete Guide to RetroArch"

I probably should try the latest nightly, but I'm running through Super Metroid on CatSFC+ and notice some weird tile stuttering/shifting on the left hand side of the backgrounds that wasn't there on they earlier builds. Anyone else notice this? Figure I would mention it just in case, sorry if this has already been mentioned. Keep up the awesome work Aliaspider!

Ahh, true, but you CAN set different rom directories for each core in the Wii version ;). Good point about the overlays, but this is the wrong thread for that pal...

Learning to use RetroArch is like riding a bycicle. It takes practice.
Except a bicycle isn't nearly as complicated...

Yeah, well, RetroArch. My point stands.

Lol. I think it's easier,though :P
You just make directories and name them anything. I set directories for my roms so that I don't accidentally run a rom with the wrong emulator. Bear in mind that you have to quit retroarch everytime you wanna boot a different emulator.

When trying to set this thing up for juvenile minds, it would be great if there was an easy explanation of how things work. I still don't know what half the shit in the menu does.

Please write one, we have a lot of work as it is

Calling the stuff we add (for users) shit doesn't help either. I know it's just an expression but it has always bugged me when people refer to our work as shit.

And yes you can set different ROM folders in the Wii just fine, and on every other platform if you use overrides or core specific configs.
Heck you can do overrides per-game.
It's not working in 3ds yet, known issue.

I speak for myself but I guess most of us on the team would agree, we'd rather spend time coding than writing guides. Also, we're very shorthanded.

To be honest, I always found everything pertaining to RetroArch by myself using google. So it's not like the information isn't out there. Typing up whatever menu entry you don't know about will net you the answer. There's a wiki on Github, and there's the emulation general wiki as well. They have the most advanced stuff like compiling, shader configurations, etc.

Keep up the good work, mate. I think on of us users would do the job to make a thorough FAQ and Tutorials.

I wouldn't worry about it, really. It's not your job to spoonfeed users who can't be bothered to do their own research. You're doing wonders for the 3DS homebrew community and I think I speak for everyone when I say we can't thank you enough.

If an user wants to step up and make a guide then good for them, but I truly believe it's not necessary as the information is available and can be found with a simple search. It may not all be compiled all in a single place, but it's nothing a little bit of research can't solve.

You expect me to write a complete and comprehensive guide on something I know very little about? I would call that misguided.

Calling the stuff we add (for users) shit doesn't help either
"Shit":Synonym. See "stuff"

How interesting. Please continue.

If you're going to create a complex piece of software, with many options that can be set, I'm pretty sure the end user would appreciate being told how it works. It's only common courtesy. Expecting everyone else to be as skilled and intelligent as you is insulting. I'm not being insulting, I just need understanding.

Come on Drak, play nice.... We rarely give these guys the credit they deserve: they've done wonders for us end users with RA, both on Wii and here on the 3DS (that's just for starters!) - there's no way we'd have half the systems emulated on the 3DS if it weren't for these guys! And they're understaffed... RA is huge, multiformat and hugely ambitious: let's cut them a little bit of slack when we find the odd teeny tiny niggle ;)
