Its just a thought i had, but could it result being able to boot a "game cart" such as a new gateway card, and get arm11/9 kernel? (keep in mind this is theoretical, and just a guess on the possibility)

That's not how it works. The Gateway card isn't the exploit.

The Gateway card is a dongle, not an actual flashcart

You lost me there a bit. What exactly do you mean when saying that? What's the difference between those two for you?

but what if gateway made som alternate firmware (close to sky3ds) so it could be used with r5?

Makes no sense.

Well, basically what I am saying, it isn't like you put in the card, load it and it runs GWMenu. The menu is loaded via an entrypoint, then it reads the card to see if you have it inserted, and loads the roms from its microSD. But Gateway could easily make it so that the card isn't needed. It's not like the card has a corrupted header that loads an exploit or anything.

Oh. I understand what you meant now. You're absolutely right. ;)
Still useful for .3ds roms though since it's easier to emulate a cartridge than to bypass the cartridge reader to read from SD card.

By dongle he means that all it does is allow you to run the gateway mode. Like an authentication. The card is not needed in any way for the exploit, but they use it as DRM to insure you bought it.
