I don't know for sure but I wouldn't think so, you have to have the red card inserted to be able to get into gateway mode.

Not at this moment. The Gateway team doesn't release their source code so we can't really reverse engineer it to make our own Gateway launcher .3dsx file. So until the Gateway team updates their launching methods, no.

You cant cold boot into gateway emunand, but you can reuse your gateway emunand with rxTools and maintain ALL of the saves and installed CIAs in the process. I just switched over 5 3ds's for my family/friends from gateway emunand to rxtools emunand and all of our saves, and cias work perfectly. Just make sure you have bigbluedevmenu installed as a CIA before you make the switch. It was surprisingly easy and now I get to enjoy the ease of having a gateway and never needing to use it to boot

I checked to be sure, I've never opted into using the red card to boot games but he did mention his .3ds games. I definitely can no longer hit select to boot into games on my red card. IIRC through another long process you convert your .3ds into cia's and I think there was a save converter/editor out in the wild.

I was wondering if it was possible for one to code a 3DSX file that points to the Gateway launcher.dat? As opposed to pointing to RxTools or CakesFW.

I still think GW emuNAND is superior to CFW for my use (despite needing hardware inserted) because when i build CIA files from my ROMs, i don't have to fool around in hex-editors making the out-of-region games region-free.

Yup, that would work fine.

Holding L skips autoboot, from there if you'd like to use gateway mode, you could use the current gateway exploit (go.gateway-3ds.com)

Afaik they both use the same emunand, it shouldn't cause any problems, I created and updated my emunand via gateway, but use it with rxtools only

Hey, just to give an update. I've now got everything set up perfectly with 9.2 gateway/rxtools "dual boot". Took some doing and research but I got there. Thanks for your helpful pointers!
