lol ..that's not enough reason to get rid of a pet ...maybe that's not the whole story though, but based on the lil info you gave, your parents seems to be some lazy pet keepers (maybe the cat is better away from them?)

I took most care of the cat. It never affected them to much.

Are your parents evil witches?

I hope you don't have a blond brother also

Maybe they were afraid taking care of a cat of older age because of scratching any furniture or breaking/knocking things down.
As far as "they thought it was dirty" seems like a unreasonable excuse. I know cats can be very clean (they learn their litter boxes in a day). Maybe it had fleas or maybe not, either way I hope you get your cat/kitten back.

Also did he/she have a name

Perhaps it was not the cats fault but more your own?

Did you clean up the kitty litter constantly (if it used kitty litter)?
Did you clean up after it in general?
Did you vacuum the house constantly to remove cat hair?
Did you feed it regularly?
Did you pay it enough attention?

I obviously wouldn't have a clue what the answers are and you can say whatever you want in response....

Something obviously went wrong and I dare say it wasn't the cats fault...

Why try and spot errors in what went wrong, when you can actually help out in a difficult time.

I bet @TheSockNaster is quite upset about this. Please edit that post
to say at least one thing that's positive.

Yeah, it was the parents' fault for taking him away.

Yeah, it was the parents' fault for taking him away.

This is such an immature comment. Take absolutely no responsible and pass blame on to anyone else but yourself.

I wouldn't have a clue what went wrong. But if I did by chance stumble upon one of the things that he actually didn't do in taking care of the cat, bringing awareness to his shortcomings will bring more help to him than any useless condolence comment.

If the cat isn't being looked after property and is being neglected by this kid, I'm glad the parents did take the cat away. You can't handle the responsibility of pet ownership, you don't deserve to own a pet.

I see more than enough abuse from people treating animals like shit and if this helps this young kid to learn to respect what it means to care for an animal, I'm glad it happened.

Hopefully this cat will now be with an owner who treats it with respect.

But maybe the parents are just dicks and don't like their kid......who knows????

I'm taking no notice of this bullcrap. Alright, then. I guess you have a bit of a valid reason.

btw, if you don't have anything nice to say, just don't say it. It's your opinion; I respect that, but the "immature" comment I posted was to tell you that some stuff is best left unsaid.

I don't want us getting into a little 12 year old fight, so I'm gonna drop it here, now.

You should try suggesting that you'd be willing to bath him, if their complaint is he was too dirty. Buy a thing of cat shampoo, get in your swim trunks and fill up the tub. Some cats actually like getting washed, I have a male cat that loves playing in the tub :)
