Hardware Cross-gen System Link?

So, I was planning on getting Counter Strike for my original Xbox, and noticed the only way (now) to play multiplayer is via System Link. I was wondering if I have it on my Xbox, can I System Link it and play with my friend if he has a Counter Strike Xbox disc in his Xbox 360?

Neither do I, but that doesn't mean it will work. Sadly, Xboxes don't run on hopes and dreams.

I believe System Link works perfectly fine between Xbox and Xbox 360, it was a big selling point back then since people wanted to upgrade but didn't want to lose the ability to play online on XBL and offline on LAN parties. Speaking of System Link, consider using tunneling software like XKai or the likes, it'd allow you to "System Link" via the Internet, it's like pretend-XBL.

It's a shame not many people are on Xlink and often cheaters ruin it.
But it's a great way for friends to enjoy the old games again.

I DID have XLink Kai, but I could never get it to work. Besides that, on my birthday, I always try have a LAN party with my friends... Sadly, last time, I didn't realize Black Ops II could only do 2 people per console when online/LAN

It has gotten much simpler over the years, to the point of plug and play-ness, at least in my experience - you should give it another go sometime.

This was within the last year or so. I didn't even get a classic Xbox until about then...
