oot3dhax_installer2 is a upgraded version of oot3dhax_installer, made to be a lot less confusing. In the future I'll add graphics and such, but for now it's white text on a black screen.

Instructions
This is a Second-degree *hax, meaning you need another *hax to install this one
  • Wipe your OoT3D saves (start from home menu, hold down ABXY). The installer will not do this for you.
  • Download the latest release and copy the folder into your sd:/3ds/

  • Open installer via a *hax. Make sure to select OoT3D as the target application. (If you don't see a target selection screen, exit and restart.) Follow the instructions.

Troubleshooting
eShop versus Gamecard is irrelevant

Here are a few quick pointers:
  • Check you have all the required files (especially the save0x files & oot3dhax_installer.xml) in the correct directory.
  • Check that you have a working internet connection, since the installer downloads the payload from smea.
  • If all else fails, try wiping the OoT3D save data. Again, the installer won't do this for you.
List of tested & working devices:
  • 9.9 O3DS USA & JPN
  • 9.9 N3DS EUR
  • 10.0 N3DS USA

Download
The downloads are hosted on GitHub!

The payload is still uncompressed and loads from the save, right? (meaning it only lets you have 1 actual save slot for ingame use)

Any plans to achieve SD loading for the payload, or compression?

Either way, thanks!

It downloads the payload still, but I'm sure there's a way to get it from the SD card.

My actual question has a lot more to do with "letting you use more than 1 save slot if you intent to play the game" than "downloading vs loading it from the SD to install it" :P

The way it is now, the payload uses virtually 5 save files worth of storage (sure, it's installed in one slot, but if you have 2 saves slots in use, it wont install at all) ironhax installer dealt with a similar issue by compressing the payload once it downloads, as far as I understand.

I wonder if the same could be done with the Gateway menu(for < 9.2 users), because right now if you only own e-Shop OOT (e-shop spoof), you can't launch gateway even with the save file imported into e-shop OOT.

I'll see how ironhax does it, it shouldn't be do different. And if you want to play the game, N64 is always the way to go.

Eh, thanks for your time anyways, wether you find a way to do it or not, you are doing an interesting and useful job by polishing the code and interface a bit more.
And I actually do like playing the 3DS version, it's not bad at all, imo!

After testing, it seems that you can use another savegame for personal use! I set my *hax to slot 1 and I tried slot 3, which worked. I only got up to getting the sword, but it seems to work! Quitting and restarting the different files also works.

As I said: you can use one for playing, and one for the hax, yes (1 actual slot and other 4 virtual slots for the hax, 1 free slot for whatever you want to use it and hence, that's why I said having 2 save slots actually in use wouldn't allow you to install the exploited save).

As the game has a total of 6 save slots, a bit of compression to make 1 or 2 more slots usable (or redirecting the payload to use SD space instead of save slots) would go a long way to make that possible.

First I'm working on loading payloads from the SD card, then I'll check that out.

The size of the payload isn't as much of an issue as the save hax corrupting the stack as soon as the save menu is brought up, which makes gameplay impossible at that point. This means having extra uncorrupted save slot files is meaningless.

Still freezes on the debug screen at "am sys" on my N3DS 9.0.0E sysNAND. I've wiped the save and tried reinstalling probably 5 times now. Any ideas?

maybe, because it's still downloading the same payload with am sys error on 9.0-9.2 3ds

the installer is the one that was updated not the payload, maybe if phase achive SD loading for the payload we could try other payloads

Pretty sure this wasn't asked before so here goes:

If I already have the old OoT3DHax installed, are there any reasons for me to reinstall it with this?
